[3rd POV]
Hearing the piano echo throughout the room, several of the kids looked around, confused. None of them had ever heard that beat before, even if, for some reason, it seemed really familiar. The tone of the beat was what really made a few people pause.
Including Jade, who swore she knew that song, that music. Something about it was just so...familiar.
And as the piano began to build to something, she and the other confused students, soon had their questions and wonders answered. As a voice began to echo, one that every student with even the littlest bit of modern music knowledge, would instantly know.
"I should have known~" The voice echoed, a soft tone, dark. One that any fan of Billie Eilish would instantly recognize, as the curtains hiding the mysterious artist swung open, causing more gasps of shock to ripple.
But, they soon went silent. As many of the students began to understand why the principal had warned against anyone sharing who the artist was, and the fact that she was at the school in the first place.
"Oh. My. God! It's Billie Eilish!" Jade yelled, a loud very out of character squeal leaving her, as she watched her favorite artist in the entire world sitting on the stage, expertly playing the paino as she continued.
"I'd leave alone
Just goes to show
That the blood you bleed is just the blood you owe
We were a pair
But I saw you there
Too much to bear" Billie sang, that same unique tone that she used in most of her music, the one that so many people had been praising constantly, and the one that she was known for.
The uniqueness was what made her stand out, and now the kids were hearing it.
She hoped that it would get some of them to find their own new styles and ideas, ones not entirely based on her own. Maybe new artists that had the same sort of "feel" as Billie, but not the exact same. These ones would hopefully have their own spin on things, and therefore make it interesting.
She hoped so. She had no idea if that would actually happen though.
At the very least, Billie could tell that a few people were already looking at her in awe, and she knew at the very least, that Jade was a huge fan. So the girl likely would take inspiration from her music in the future.
Tori stood next to Jade, looking just as shocked. She knew Billie Eilish, like any self respecting fan of music. It was impossible not to know the biggest artist on the planet, someone who had overtaken Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and so many others.
There were only a handful of artists that could compare to her, and she had only been making music for less than five years.
She was also friends with one of Tori's favorite artists.
HD.
"You were my life, but life is far away from fair
Was I stupid to love you?
Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else?~"
Jade slowly closed her eyes, listening to the newly revealed song from her favorite artist, the sound of the piano echoing in the back, as well as soft drums, and other instruments combing to make quite the sound.
It was amazing.
"That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die~"
"Man...she is amazing!" Andre exclaimed, listening. It wasn't really his style of music, as he preferred the more upbeat stuff, but he had to admit that her music was incredible. Not to mention her voice.
She used no autotune, no lip syncing, nothing. It was all natural, all her.
That was not normal. As pretty much every artist used at least some form of autotune and lip syncing.
She didn't.
incredible.
"I let it burn
You're no longer my concern, mmm
Faces from my past return
Another lesson yet to learn"
"I've never heard her music before, it's really good!" Cat said, swaying slightly with the music. Like Andre, she preferred upbeat pop music, but this had its own charm to it.
That was most of Billie's music though. More quiet and "dark" and was the sort of music that you either liked or didn't like. Sort of like Metal, but not on the same level. Thankfully for a lot of people though, Billie had made a number of songs that were not exactly the same "tone" so there was still quite a few songs that she had made, that they could like.
Jade looked insulted that Cat had never listened to a single Billie Eilish song before. But she didn't say anything, as she paid more attention to the music of her favorite artist in the entire world.
"That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die~"
Helen watched all of her students listening to the music, a small smile on her face. She decided that she was right to accept the idea of Billie coming in to perform. She could already see the faces of some of her students, as some of them came to realizations, and looked to have a few ideas about their future in music.
"No time to die, mmm
No time to die, ooh"
Haley listened to her girlfriend singing, a small smile on her face as she stayed hidden on the side, not showing herself. Billie was noticeably into it, as she was the one playing the piano, and was putting a lot more effort into her singing.
Which she would have done either way, but Haley knew that she was doing this because of all the kids watching.
Haley understood that her girlfriend took this very very seriously, all because she wanted to show the kids what training and experience could do for someone. That even when being only a couple years older than them, you can get that good.
It just takes practice, a lot of practice. And the willingness to fail and struggle, but not give up, and persevere.
Haley expected a few of the kids to get it. To understand and to become real true artists.
She had a feeling that Tori and her clique would be the main ones, at the very least, she knew that Andre, Tori, and Jade would do it. Cat was likely. She wasn't sure about Beck or Robbie though. As from what Billie had told her, the latter was a bit...questionable.
She had wondered why Billie knew about them, but according to her, she had asked Helen about the students with the most potential, and that group had been the first ones listed.
"Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die"
The song ended, as Billie sat behind the piano, the large room quiet as she looked over at the large populace of students.
Before cheers and clapping echoed, and a small smile formed on her face.
Leaning into the mic in front of her, she spoke five simple words. And that was...
"Glad you all liked it"
