Chapter 453 - Chapter 453: The Terror of Fissure

Spinarak's appearance startled the Vileplume. They were already half frozen to death, completely powerless to resist.

Spinarak used Megahorn, sending the first Vileplume flying before it collapsed on the ground, fainted. As for the other two Vileplume, they were practically giving Spinarak free exp.

Spinarak climbed onto one of the Vileplume. Green light surrounded its six legs as it trampled over the Vileplume.

Tetsuya nodded. Spinarak had already learned the Bug-type move Infestation. The two Vileplume were tormented to the point of wishing they were dead and soon they fainted as well. However, Spinarak had no interest whatsoever in Pokémon like them. It was certainly no vegetarian…

Meanwhile, Beedrill and Ditto had already dealt with the three Golbat. Seeing the fallen Vileplume, Beedrill immediately pounced on them and began feeding on their nectar.

The three Pokémon Hunters realized something was wrong. If they did not recall the Vileplume immediately, they would surely die under Beedrill's assault. All three hurriedly took out their Poké Balls, preparing to recall the Vileplume…

The Poké Balls suddenly floated into the air!

Immediately afterward, three Shadow Balls appeared out of thin air and blasted the Poké Balls into pieces.

"W-What… what's going on!?" The three Pokémon Hunters were completely at a loss after this sudden turn of events.

"It must be him! There's another invisible Pokémon nearby. Stay alert," The lead Hunter said as he instinctively took two steps back.

When they looked at the Vileplume again, all of their nectar had already been completely devoured by Beedrill, leaving behind nothing but a few petals.

"You damn monster… I never expected someone your age to be this cruel!" The lead Pokémon Hunter cursed through gritted teeth.

Tetsuya sneered. "Hn. You should be more concerned about yourself."

As soon as he finished speaking, Houndoom charged out of the smog with seven or eight fireballs in tow.

[Blightfire Assault] dealt lethal damage to the Exeggutor. Fire-, Poison-, and Dark-type attacks all had an advantage against Exeggutor. Under such an assault, there was no chance of survival.

By the time Houndoom finished, the three Exeggutor were already on the verge of death.

The three Hunters decisively recalled their remaining Pokémon and shouted, "Onix, use Dig! We're leaving!"

Each of the three Hunters mounted an Onix and burrowed underground.

"Mamoswine, it's your turn." This was exactly the moment Tetsuya had been waiting for. Having already completed six uses of Curse, Mamoswine now wielded seemingly limitless power.

Mamoswine took a single step, and the ground shook violently. It slowly walked to the front before stomping both feet down with terrific force. Instantly, two enormous canyons split open across the ground.

The three Hunters had just been feeling smug about their escape methods when they suddenly felt the earth shaking violently. Then, to their horror, light appeared behind them as the ground itself split apart!

"W-What is this?"

"It's Fissure! It's Fissure! Hurry to the surface, or we'll all be buried in the canyon!" The lead Hunter shouted as he frantically urged his Onix to climb back toward the surface.

The violent tremors affected all the nearby Ground-type Pokémon, causing them to poke their heads out of the ground one after another.

Pokémon owned a strong instinct for danger. Having all sensed the approaching threat, they crawled out from underground.

Their purpose in leaving the ground was naturally to avoid being caught in the Fissure.

As the ground continued to shake violently, widespread panic erupted. Pokémon scattered in every direction in an attempt to flee. Tetsuya needed to deal with these three Pokémon Hunters as quickly as possible if he wanted the opportunity to catch more "prey".

At last, the "canyon" stopped extending, while the three Hunters clung to the rock walls on either side of the chasm with their Onix.

"H-Help! Help!"

The three Pokémon Hunters cried out frantically.

"We don't want the Scyther anymore! P-Please… spare us!" The lead Hunter shouted.

Tetsuya slowly closed his eyes, preparing to have Mamoswine strike once more.

"Was it you… who caused this panic?"

A clear voice made Tetsuya open his eyes.

Standing atop a nearby hill was a beautiful young girl, about fifteen years old.

…Yet the Steelix beside her looked incomparably fierce, completely out of place next to such a beautiful girl.

"Can this even be called panic?" Tetsuya replied.

"Pokémon all have peaceful places where they live in harmony. You shouldn't disturb them." After speaking, the girl slid down the hillside while sitting atop her Steelix and approached Tetsuya.

"Help! Help!"

Realizing that someone was approaching, the three Hunters shouted even more desperately. The girl also heard their cries for help and urged her Steelix to move faster.

"Heh… Mamoswine, finish Fissure."

Tetsuya spoke in a cold voice. Mamoswine exerted its power once more. The ground shook violently again, and the rock walls on both sides of the fissure began to collapse. The deafening rumble echoed throughout the mountains.

The violent tremors also prevented the girl's Steelix from advancing. All she could do was shout, "Don't hurt them!Don't…!"

However, the three Pokémon Hunters had already fallen silent. As the rock walls crumbled and the cliff sides collapsed, they fell into the bottom of the fissure the instant Mamoswine unleashed its power.

The fissure was so deep that even Ground-type Pokémon rarely reached its depths. Their Onix might not die, but they would certainly be left half dead beneath the falling rocks. As for the three Hunters themselves, there was no possibility that they had survived.

As Fissure came to an end, the trembling gradually subsided. The fissure that had just been split open was filled by the collapsing rocks from both sides, and the land returned to peace once more.

By then, the girl's face was covered with a layer of dust. She glared angrily at Tetsuya and demanded, "…Why would you take lives?"

Faced with the girl's question, Tetsuya found himself at a loss for words. Could it be that this girl followed some kind of religion? She kept talking about "life".

"…Because they're Pokémon Hunters. They deserved to die," Tetsuya replied, sounding somewhat tentative.

The girl remained unmoved. "Even if they were in the wrong, they should have been guided. And if they couldn't be guided, they should have been handed over to the police. What right do you have to take their lives?"

Tetsuya snorted. "If I didn't kill them, they would have killed me. Do I need any other reason? I'd advise you not to meddle in my affairs. I don't have time to argue with you here. Goodbye."

After saying that, Tetsuya prepared to head in the direction where the scattered Pokémon had fled, intending to see whether he could catch any that would sell for a good price.

However, the young girl stepped in front of Tetsuya and said, "Every life is sacred and worthy of being cherished. Since you killed people within the territory of my family, the Terra, Family, you must come back with me and face the cleansing of your soul!"

'What the…' Tetsuya looked at the girl before him and could not help finding her rather ridiculous. 'You want to take, me, away, huh…?'
