~Jade's POV~
Xavier crouched the moment I reached him. His hands slid into javelin's fur carefully, almost reverently, fingers sinking into the thick blue strands at her neck.
The contact sent a ripple through me like warmth. Something that made Javelin lean into him instead of away.
His touch was comforting, as if he had known me for far longer than he should have. He stroked along my head and down my back, and without thinking, I allowed it. Javelin allowed it.
Then he did something none of us expected. Xavier rested his forehead gently against mine.
The contact stilled everyone.
I felt Xade's sharp inhale. Xander's posture shifted. Even my own breath caught inside the bond. Javelin did not pull away. She held his gaze, like it was natural.
Xander cleared his throat, breaking the tension. The sound snapped me from my reverie. "That is enough," he said evenly. "Let us leave. She needs to change back."
