the last

This is a story that I came up with. It is meant to keep you on the edge of your seat. The story is going to get more and more intense until you get to the last

line of the story.I want the reader

to feel like something is going to

happen in the story. The story is an one but it is full of suspense and it will keep you guessing until the end of the story

System Error

The notification on Elias's phone

was polite, minimalist, and terrifying.

I just got a security alert that

says there is motion in the Master BedroomThe security system has detected some movement in the Master Bedroom. This is a security alert, about the Master Bedroom.

Elias stopped moving his key was

half turned in the door of his

apartment. The time was 2:00 AM Elias lived by himself in a fancy penthouse apartment on the 40th floor. This penthouse apartment was full of high tech stuff. It was automated. Nobody else had a key, to the penthouse apartment. The windows of the penthouse apartment did not open all.

He got out his phone. Opened the

app. The live feed from the

camera in his bedroom started to load. At first there was a spinning wheel then the picture cleared up.He saw a really clear image of his bed. The blanket on his bed was all smooth and neat. There was nobody in the room. The light on the ceiling that comes on when itsenses movement was not, on."Glitch " he whispered, letting out a breath that he did not even know he was holding, The front door creaked as he pushed it open. He took a step into the hallway. It was cool and silent, in there.

He tossed his keys on the table.

The smart-home hub was a white ball that sat on the counter. It had a blue light that went on and off.The smart-home hub looked really nice with this soft blue light

coming from it.

Elias said "System I want a status

report "

The lady voice, on the machine spoke away. "The system is armed. The perimeter is secure. The system did not find any breaches. The perimeter is really secure. The system is workingfine. It did not detect any

breaches of the perimeter.

I got a motion alert for the

bedroom. I do not understand why the bedroom motion alert was sent to me. The bedroom is the room that has the motion detector in it. I am wondering what triggered the motion alert,

for the bedroom.

"Diagnosin.." The blue light

swirled around. "Sensor

malfunction in Zone A: Master

Bedroom. The system is

recalibrating the sensors, in the

Master Bedroom now."

Elias rubbed his eyes. He thought it was a bug. Then Elias walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water. The apartment was really quiet. It felt weird. The

refrigerator, in the kitchen wasmaking a lot of noise. It was bothering Elias.

The man took a sip of water. Then his phone buzzed again.

I just got a security alert that there is some motion in the kitchen. The security alert says that motion was detected in the kitchen.I am a little worried

about this security alert because

it says there is motion, in the kitchen.

Elias dropped the glass. It broke into a million pieces. Water went over his socks. Elias turned

around fast and looked

everywhere in the kitchen. The kitchen was totally empty. Then he looked at the living room, which was connected to thekitchen and that was empty too.The living room and the kitchen were both empty there was

nobody there. Elias kept looking around the kitchen and the living room. He did not see anyone."Systeml'" he yelled. "Where is the motion coming from, in the

system?"

The voice said "Motion detected

in Zone 2: Kitchen" in a way I am in the kitchen. It is me who is, in the kitchen.

"Negative " the voice said softly. The voice was talking to me. It said that the biometric scanners found out that I am a Resident.Something is.It is because of a heat signature that the scanners do not know about. The motion is being triggered by this heat

signature from the Resident.

Elias backed up against thegranite island. He got a steak

knife from the block that was, on the counter. "Where is the thing I am looking for?" Elias said,

"Where is it?"

"The signature is stationary.

Zone 2."

Elias screamed that he does not see anything. He waved the knife around at the air. The air is really empty. "Is the thing we are

looking for invisible?" Elias

asked. "Is this thing a ghost?"

Elias said."What is this thing?"Elias asked about the thing.

"Diagnosing..."

Eliass heart was beating fast

against his ribs. He felt like people were staring at him. Elias looked at the vents to see if anyone was hiding there. Then Elias looked under the sofa, at the shadows. There was nothing.

The voice said "Diagnostic complete", It actually sounded pretty happy. The voice said

sorry to Elias. It said the sensors are working fine. The thing is the sensors are finding a heat

signature that is really different, from the first one. The sensors are detecting this heat signature and it is distinct. Elias, the sensors are doing their job. They found something, a second distinct heat signature.

Where is it Elias whispered to himself feeling the sweat trickle down his temple. Is the thing

behind the counter. Is the thing, in

the hallway Elias wondered,

looking around nervously for the thing.

The blue light on the hub changed

to a red color, which was a

warning sign. The hub had alight but now this light was red. This red color was a warning that

something was wrong with the hub. The blue light, on the hub was supposed to be blue Itturned red and that was a problem.

"The sensors are precise, Elias. The second heat signature is not in the hallway."

Elias held the knife really tight his knuckles were completely white."So tell me where the thing is.""The thing is really close " the voice said."The heat from it is right on your back that is what the reading isn. The voice was talking about the thermal

proximity reading, which showed the heat signature is currently clinging to your back. The heat signature, from the thing is what the voice was looking at.
