Severine's eyes were dazed when she exited the airport with Samuel.
I actually slept the entire way, she mumbled to herself.
The bright sunlight welcomed her in a warm embrace as she rolled her shoulders and adjusted her pace toward her parked car.
The four-hour ride had been spent in dreamless oblivion. Strangely, her body felt lighter than before, as if a heavy rope around her chest had loosened its hold.
"Boss, back to the academy?" Samuel asked, a relaxed smile spreading across his beaming face. "Or office? We can take the back door."
His smile widened as he spoke. It struck him as rather comical that the boss of Meadow Holdings had to slip through the back door like a thief.
"Not office."
Severine hardly ever went to her office at Meadow Holdings. It was both a protection of her identity and a way to keep her company safe from any threat.
Threats included, but were not limited to, Austin, Isabella, Damien Rhodes, Emily Rhodes, and Austin's loyal board members.
