Chapter 1 - Ready Set Go! Into Chapter 1!

'I swear on my life it was an accident.'

The boy with white, messy hair awoke in a white room, sitting on a big comfy chair with his hands tucked in his thighs. 'Where am I?' the boy thought to himself, his eyes slowly scanning the white room. The boy was wearing a black shirt under a white zip-up hoodie that wasn't zipped up. The hoodie had black stripes on the sleeves. He was also wearing a black pair of long pants.

At that moment, a tall figure walked into the white room, opening the iron door and sitting down on a foldable chair in front of the boy. "You caused quite the disturbance back there..." the man said, looking at the purely white floor. "Uh... am I... dead?" he said drowsily and blinking slowly. "Death... uh... Death?" he said really quietly to himself, slurring over his words.

'I was sent here to kill you.' a voice rung in the boy's head.

Suddenly, he jumped up frantically.

"W-Where's that guy who tried to kill me?! And where's Anakiss? And where is my older brother?!" the boy's voice echoed throughout the white room as he stood up quickly and pressed the man for answers. As the boy closed the gap between the two, the man extended his palm and released an energy that gently pushed him back onto the comfy chair.

"Oh, don't worry. There won't be a need to stand up anytime soon." the man replied.

As he fell back into the comfort of the chair, slightly offended, he looked up to get a better look at the man. The man was tall and bald. He had blue eyes that pierced his soul. He was wearing a black, shiny latex suit that went from his neck all the way down to his feet. Of course, his hands weren't covered, as that would be an inconvenience.

The boy noticed that the man's lean build stuck out from the rest, as muscles bulged through the fabric of the suit. He wasn't buff or anything, just really athletic. "H-How long was I unconscious for, sir?" he asked, glaring at the man's deep and blue eyes. "Three full days, kid." the man replied, breaking eye contact with the boy. "Three full days?!" he replied with a shocked expression.

"Uh... think back... What happened three days ago?" he asked himself.

"Well uh, I was being pursued by an assassin, then... Oh! I remember."

"Oh, in case you didn't know, bald guy, my name's Fumi." the boy said to the man.

"Bald guy?! Who do you think you are?! Little trickster, dammit... Also yeah we saw your name on your license." the man replied.

Fumi remembered waking up late that morning, three days ago, sunlight spilling through the open window and hitting him right in the face. He groaned, rolled over, and instantly felt something smack the back of his head. "Get up." Aerius said, already dressed and tying his boots. Aerius was Fumi's older brother. "You're gonna sleep through the whole day again." Fumi sat up, rubbing his head dramatically. "Bro, you didn't have to hit me…"

After leaving the house, Fumi kept kicking the same tiny pebble down the sidewalk, acting like it was some championship sport, and Aerius just watched him with this tired expression that screamed, "Why am I related to this creature?" Every time the pebble bounced sideways, Fumi made a dramatic gasp like it betrayed him.

Aerius stopped at one of those tiny food stalls, the kind that only sold like three things on the menu. The owner waved at them without even looking up. Fumi leaned onto the counter way too far and almost knocked over a basket of something. Aerius grabbed the back of his hoodie like he was holding a cat. "Stop touching everything." he said, pulling him back before the old man noticed.

Aerius had long, warm brown hair tied back in a loose ponytail, with a few strands falling over his face and giving him that calm, unreadable look. His bangs framed his eyes perfectly, softening his serious expression. He wore a black coat over a dark turtleneck and a light grey vest, the layers making him look sharp without trying. Fingerless gloves covered his hands, adding to that quiet, composed vibe he always carried.

They ended up sitting on a bench near the center of town, just chilling while people walked by. Aerius was quiet as always, arms resting on his knees, eyes following the crowd like he was searching for something he couldn't explain. Fumi stretched his legs out and kicked a small rock around, waiting for his brother to say something that wasn't boring.

"Yo." he said suddenly, "If you got hit by a giant fish, would you let me laugh or would you punch me?"

Aerius didn't even look at him. "I'd punch you."

Fumi laughed way too hard at that. Aerius finally cracked the tiniest smirk but tried to hide it by looking away. For a second, everything felt stupidly normal, just him and his brother messing around like always, the streets warm and alive around them. "Fumi..." Aerius said, creating a moment of tense. "You didn't tell anyone, did you?"

"The fact that there's a demon inside of me, right? Yeah, I didn't tell anyone, big bro..." Fumi replied. "Good." Aerius replied. "He haunts my dreams. It's like he can talk to me." he says, looking at both of his hands like there's something wrong with him. His eyes then skipped to a boy, looking to be no older than 18, staring at the two brothers while they sat down.

The boy had an average physique, slightly slim but also muscular at the same time. He was wearing a white long sleeved shirt, and black pants along with some black shoes. He had black messy hair that looked natural as well. "Heh, bro... that guy over there has been staring at us for quite a while now, don't you think?" Fumi said, trying to make the mood lighter.

Aerius opened his mouth like he wanted to say something else, but nothing came out. His eyes darted to the side for half a second. Fast, but Fumi caught it.

"Bro… what?" Fumi asked.

"Nothing."

"Nah, don't 'nothing' me. You're doing that weird eye thing." Fumi said, pointing a finger at him. Aerius pushed himself up from the bench and dusted off his coat. "Drop it, Fumi. We need to get home." Fumi stood up too, annoyed. "Dude, if you're hiding something, at least—" he said, getting cut off by Aerius. "Fumi." Aerius said his name in that way he almost never used. Calm, but strong enough to shut him up instantly. "…Okay." Fumi mumbled, shoulders sinking.

As the two brothers walked down the street in a hurry, they realised the boy with the black hair was gone. Aerius cursed under his breath, fists clenched like he was ready to brawl with someone. "A-Aerius? What's going on, dude? Are you feeling fine?" Fumi asked. "I-I'm doing fine, Fumi. Just please, keep walking no matter what. Don't stop until you get home, okay?" Aerius replied, glaring Fumi in the eyes.

"Uh, okay, I guess?" Fumi said as they continued to walk down the streets. As they were about to pass an alleyway, the same boy from before emerged from the darkness and stopped the two in their tracks. The boy looked Fumi dead in the eyes. The boy's eyes were cold and lifeless, showing no eye colour whatsoever. Just... black...

"You are Fumi, yes?" the boy asked in a tone with no emotion. Fumi looked over at Aerius, who was freaking out before looking back at the boy. "U-Uh, yes. I am Fumi. Why do you ask?" Fumi replies. "Great. Time to get to work." the boy said, grabbing out a clean katana. "Please prepare. This won't take long." the boy said once more. "W-Why do you have a katana?" Fumi asked. "Oh, I'm an assassin hired to kill you." he replied.

"An assassin?! But why?!"
