Chapter 16 - 16 - Meeting Rika Minami

As dusk descended, the sky seemed to be painted with a golden hue.

This scene inexplicably added a touch of desolation to the apocalyptic city below the sky.

On the opposite bank adjacent to the Tokonosu City offshore airport, a figure stood up from the rooftop of a certain building.

That beautiful figure, with the sunset glow as a backdrop, took off the protective chest plate vest from her chest, massaged her chest, which had been pressed all day, and let out an evocative sound.

Her waterfall-like violet high ponytail swayed behind her, revealing a delicate oval face, with a rare, dashing heroic spirit between her brows.

"After lying down all day, I feel like my body is falling apart."

She stretched lazily.

The man crouching beside her couldn't take his eyes off her figure.

"How about it, do you want me to give you a massage?"

Rika Minami gave him a provocative look.

"If you can shoot better than me, then I don't mind."

The man immediately backed down.

"To beat you, one of the top five police snipers in the country?"

In front of Rika Minami, on a padded cloth, was a formidable sniper rifle.

"What a joke..."

"Then give up."

Rika Minami ignored him.

"Keep a close watch. If there's still nothing, we can retreat to the offshore airport later."

"Got it."

The man picked up his binoculars again, but he was still muttering.

"Seriously, we just need to retreat to the offshore airport, why do we have to come out every day?"

Rika Minami was too lazy to bother with him.

This spotter was good in every other aspect, but he was too verbose.

However, she didn't reject this kind of action.

Although due to her job responsibilities, she couldn't go back alone.

But she was also very worried about her only good friend.

Could someone as naive as her survive in this terrible world?

Or had she already... Every day, she volunteered to come to the airport perimeter by the shore, perhaps also hoping for that one in ten thousand chance.

To see her drive her family's Humvee to find her, right?

Haha.

How could... "Huh?"

"A car is coming?"

Rika Minami was stunned.

In the past few days, only 'dead bodies' had come to this area; hardly any living people were seen.

Someone was actually driving a car?

She looked into the distance.

Although she couldn't see it clearly, her heart immediately vibrated violently as if she was on a roller coaster!

That type of car!

She would never mistake it!

A Hummer H1, exactly like the one she had at home!

"Give it to me!"

She directly snatched the binoculars from the man's hand.

Sure enough!

She actually found Shizuka Marikawa in the driver's seat of that car!

She survived!

But then her brows furrowed.

A large number of 'them' had gathered at the boarding entrance of the offshore airport.

Although not densely packed, it would still be a bit difficult for the Humvee to break through by ramming them.

She threw the binoculars back to the other person.

Then, without even having time to put on the baffle in front of her, she immediately lay down and aimed her sniper rifle.

Through the scope, she calculated the safest route for the car to break through.

Then, she systematically targeted the 'them' located along the path.

"Bang!!!"

A gunshot rang out!

"Ah!"

"Someone's shooting!"

Ellen, in the back seat, nervously hunched her body and looked around.

Arthur was also observing his surroundings, but he wasn't particularly nervous.

Ahead was the port entrance leading to the offshore airport.

It wouldn't be surprising to encounter Rika Minami.

If he remembered correctly, Rika Minami was a very strong sniper.

So, she's nearby?

The only safe place a sniper would be is... the rooftop!

Soon, Arthur saw two blurry figures on a small building in the distance, about seven or eight stories high.

And as more gunshots rang out, he guessed their intention.

"They're clearing the way for us!"

"Shizuka, start breaking through in the direction 'they' fell!"

"Understood!"

When she saw the Humvee had already rushed into the port square.

Rika Minami immediately started packing up quickly.

"We're going back early today!"

Not long after.

Arthur and the others, along with Rika Minami's group, had already boarded the boat heading for the offshore airport.

Rika Minami looked back at the Humvee surrounded by 'them' on the shore.

"What a shame."

"I quite liked that car."

"Rika~-chan!!!"

What a long-lost voice.

Rika Minami skillfully turned around, opened her arms, and caught Shizuka Marikawa who rushed over.

"I missed you so much!!!"

Rika Minami stroked her head and playfully jostled her body.

She flicked her forehead.

"It looks like you've been living quite comfortably these past few days."

"Has this sinful body gotten heavier again?"

"And your hair is so smooth, did you secretly use the shampoo I hid? That's my treasured brand-name stuff!"

"Eh? Rika-chan's things are my things, right?"

Arthur looked at the two bickering, a satisfied smile on his face.

Black-skinned, mature police officer x blonde, super huge-boobed doctor?

What a beautiful scene!

"You must be Blank."

It seemed that Shizuka Marikawa's incessant reminiscing had finally come to an end.

Rika Minami came over to Arthur.

"Thank you for saving Shizuka."

"To be honest, before this, I was always worried about her safety. After all, you've all seen her personality..."

"Ah, but..."

Rika Minami suddenly blinked, her originally cold and elegant demeanor changed, instantly becoming much more approachable.

"Don't tell her that I thanked you, or she'll definitely show off in front of me for a long time."

"I understand."

Arthur smiled and nodded.

"By the way, Rika Minami."

"Do you have time later? I have something I'd like to discuss with you."

"It would be best to bring your team members as well."

Saeko Busujima, standing beside him, gave him an unexpected glance.

Meanwhile, Ellen—now a complete salted fish—looked thoroughly unfazed.

As expected, the big shot had come here with a purpose.

So what, though?

What did that have to do with her?

She'd just keep watching the show… "Oh?"

Rika Minami eyed the boy in front of her with mild surprise.

It seemed he wasn't after any reward for helping Shizuka.

From Shizuka's excited account moments ago, the kid had decent character, if a few odd quirks.

"Got it."

Once they were ashore,

Rika first found quarters for Shizuka Marikawa and the others.

After all, almost no one was left alive on the Seaport Air Base.

Only her special assault squad, five or six people at most, remained stationed there.

"Follow me."

After Arthur dropped off his luggage, Rika gestured for him to come along.

Earlier she'd told her spotter, Tajima, to gather the rest of the team.

She was curious.

What vital business could this mere foreign student have with them?
