Chapter 1 - chapter 1The Boy with Sapphire Eyes

A mysterious, dark night. The deserted rooftop of the tallest building in the city.

First Scene

Leaning against the rooftop railing stands a tall, slender figure—6 feet 2 inches in height. Dressed in a pure white shirt and black pants. At first glance, it's impossible to tell whether the person is male or female—an entirely mysterious, androgynous (tomboy) presence. Short, neatly cut black hair is blown across the forehead by the wind. Calm, deep green eyes are fixed on the pale moon in the sky. A lit cigarette rests at the corner of their lips, its smoke dissolving into the darkness of the night.

Kim's Entrance

At that moment, the heavy sound of boots echoed behind. Suddenly, two stone-hard arms wrapped around the mysterious figure from behind. A deep yet velvet-soft voice whispered near their ear—

"I've been looking for you for so long… and here you are, poisoning yourself all alone?"

Identity Revealed

They turned their head slightly. In the darkness, a pair of eyes shimmered like diamonds—Sapphire Eyes.

The handsome young man was 28 years old. His name was Kim. He, too, wore a white shirt. His black hair and sharp blue gaze looked as though they were hunting something in the night.

The 19-year-old girl—the tomboy figure—looked into Kim's eyes and smiled softly. Removing the cigarette from her lips, she said only one thing—

"You're late, Kim."

The Next Moment

Kim pulled her closer, holding her tightly, staking his claim. Two pairs of eyes—one blue, one green—created an eerie mystery under the moonlight. In his calm but deep voice, Kim declared that in this dangerous city, he never wanted her out of his sight—not even for a moment.

Kim (whispering near Seo-ah's ear):

"Seo-ah… why are you always like this? You build invisible walls around yourself, turn yourself into a mystery—never letting anyone come close. Do you not even trust me completely?"

Seo-ah (smiling faintly, exhaling the last smoke into the air):

"Trust? Kim, in this city, trust means death. And this 'tomboy' look of mine isn't a hobby—it's my armor. I like being this way because it makes it easier to see people's true faces."

Kim (lifting her chin and turning her toward him):

"But you don't need armor in front of me. When your green eyes look into my blue ones, I can see how tired you are. Why do you always try to handle everything alone?"

Seo-ah (steadily, meeting his gaze):

"Because I know the day I become weak, the spell of those blue eyes will never let me go. Do you really want me to become completely dependent on you, Kim?"

When Kim looked deeply into her eyes, a sudden shimmer of tears appeared in those calm green eyes. Her brave, strong tomboy persona crumbled in an instant.

Seo-ah (in a trembling, barely audible voice):

"You want to know why I lock myself inside armor? Why I can't rely on anyone? Kim… my parents died a long time ago. When I needed shelter the most, there was no roof over my head."

She looked at the silver moon and sighed.

Seo-ah:

"From childhood, I fought alone. I shaped myself so no one would look down on me for being a girl, so no one would think I was weak. To survive on this city's streets, I had to become not 'Seo-ah'—but a warrior."

Kim listened in silence. He knew her life wasn't easy, but the tears in her eyes pierced his heart like arrows. He gripped her shoulders firmly and pulled her into his chest.

Kim (calm and deep):

"You were alone for so long, Seo-ah—but not anymore. I can't give you back your lost childhood, but from now on, I'll be your shelter. Every tear that falls from your green eyes—I, Kim, will be responsible for them."

He rested his head on top of hers. Under the moonlight, Kim's Sapphire Eyes were no longer predatory—they were filled with tenderness.

Just as Seo-ah tried to calm herself against his chest, Kim's body suddenly stiffened. He gently lifted her chin so she had to look at him. His blue eyes were no longer calm—guilt and pain flickered within them.

Kim (in a heavy voice):

"Seo-ah… your parents' deaths weren't an accident. I've known this for a long time."

Seo-ah stepped back in shock. The tears vanished, replaced by disbelief.

Seo-ah:

"What… what are you saying, Kim? How do you know? And if you knew, why didn't you tell me all this time?"

Kim looked toward the railing and sighed. Under the moonlight, his pale face looked even more mysterious.

Kim:

"The people who attacked your house were searching for a special Blue Diamond called The Heart of Sapphire. My family was indirectly involved. I was young then, but I saw everything. My father tried to save your parents… but he failed."

Seo-ah's world froze. The family of the man she had begun to trust was tied to her destruction.

Kim:

"I recognized you the moment I first saw you. I never forgot those green eyes. That's why I've protected you like a shadow. I wanted to atone for my father's failure. But now… I'm terrified of losing you."

Seo-ah stood silent. Her white shirt fluttered in the wind. Justice for her parents on one side, deep love for Kim on the other—which path would she choose?

After a long silence, Seo-ah looked into Kim's Sapphire Eyes and realized—he could never hurt her. The fear of losing her was far stronger than his guilt.

She took a deep breath and stepped closer, gently holding his hand.

Seo-ah:

"Kim, we can't change the past. What your family did isn't your burden alone. I'm tired of being alone… tonight, I don't want to be alone anymore."

Kim stared at her in shock. Gratitude filled his eyes.

Kim:

"Thank you, Seo-ah. Come with me—to my place. You'll be safe there. I promise, I'll help you find your parents' killers. Together, we'll see this mystery through to the end."

She nodded softly. Kim draped his coat over her shoulders and led her toward the door. Below, his black luxury car waited. The dark night was guiding them toward a new destiny—where revenge and love would clash.

Morning

Golden sunlight slipped through the curtains. Seo-ah woke to the sound of birds. Her head still felt heavy from the wine.

Turning slightly, she saw Kim sleeping peacefully beside her. His calm face, closed eyes, and messy black hair made him look even more handsome. A small smile formed on her lips.

Then she noticed something—and her face turned bright red. Beneath the blanket, neither of them was wearing anything.

Memories of the night returned—his kiss, his embrace, the pull of those blue eyes.

She tried to quietly slip away, but Kim's arm tightened around her waist.

Kim (sleepily):

"Where do you think you're going so early, Seo-ah? Are you going to leave me alone?"

Embarrassed, she hid her face under the blanket.

Seo-ah (stammering):

"S-sorry, Kim… I didn't mean to… I didn't realize what I was doing because of the wine. Please don't misunderstand me."

Kim brushed her hair aside, smiling softly.

Kim:

"Why are you apologizing? Do you think anything happened without your consent? And honestly… seeing you this shy—I really like it."

She clutched the blanket tighter.

Seo-ah:

"I'm not usually like this. I try to stay strong. Last night, I lost control."

Kim pulled her close.

Kim:

"Sometimes, losing control is good. To the world, you may be strong—but to me, you're just my Seo-ah. No armor needed. And there's no need to apologize… because last night was the best night of my life."

A shy smile appeared on her lips—her tough tomboy armor finally melted in the warmth of his love.
