Item: Flesh and Blood of a Will‑Born Being (Origin: demonic bloodline; classified as a derivative source of contamination)
Rank: Silver
Type: Consumable / Bloodline material
Function: Can be used to alter one's race or raise the level of one's life energy.
Warning: This item carries inherent flaws and has binding side‑effects. Depending on how it is used — whether as food or as bloodline material — the corresponding mental and spiritual effects will differ.
Oboro's gaze sharpened as he looked at the card in his hand.
Silver rank indicated the high value of the resource. Previously, the cards he had created from flesh taken from Muryō had only been Bronze rank; this showed that the current card possessed far more potent effects.
Most importantly — this card was permanent.
It could be taken out of the Demon Slayer world, making it a special item within its category.
"Not only does the flesh itself become contaminated… but because of the will contained within, the soul becomes contaminated too. If that's how it works… then it's highly likely that it also binds the corresponding Blood Demon Art. In other words, I can create demons in other worlds as well…"
A smirk tugged at the corner of Oboro's mouth.
Tonight's battle had yielded great rewards.
Because the flesh had disintegrated so rapidly, he had only managed to convert two cards before the energy dissipated.
On top of that, witnessing the explosive power of inherited will — power that he himself had guided and cultivated — had stirred his spirit, resonated with his soul, and made it stronger.
Knowing about the concept of will was one thing; experiencing it firsthand was entirely another.
The same applied to individual will. You might understand how to grow stronger, and you might know what true strength looks like… but when it came down to actually walking the path, whether you could endure and whether you could achieve it were different matters entirely.
As long as your individual will was strong enough, it would drive you toward the peak, pushing you to grow endlessly.
And the same held true here.
Oboro might have understood intellectually what inherited will was… but without seeing it unfold, without witnessing it in person, true insight remained impossible.
His path toward achieving the Supreme Will relied entirely on such insights, and on allowing his soul to grow through them.
"It seems… I will have far more confidence stepping into the next world than I expected."
Oboro's mind was set.
He admitted that until now, he had looked down upon this world of Demon Slayer.
Yet the people and living beings here had proven to him time and again: just because it was a lower‑order world did not mean it was worthless or insignificant.
It had its own unique character.
---
The rebel army formed by his inheritors had failed in their assault on the capital.
They had never intended to seize Edo in one stroke; that would have been nothing but fantasy.
Their true plan had been to create chaos, break through the defensive lines of the Demon Slayer Corps and the Shogunate army, and fight their way into the heart of the stronghold to eliminate the high‑ranking officials there — dealing the Shogunate a heavy, crippling blow.
After nearly ten years of war, the Shogunate was exhausted and severely short on manpower.
But with their leaders dead and unable to return to the battlefield, the rebel forces had fallen apart. Only a handful had managed to escape Edo.
The rest had perished there.
The event sent shockwaves across the country, but as time passed, it was soon forgotten.
For the next few years, the inheritors remained quiet and cautious, operating only in secret.
Even though the decline of the Edo period was obvious to everyone, overthrowing the Shogunate and rebuilding the world remained incredibly difficult.
This realization made the surviving members understand that they still needed to grow, to conserve their strength, and wait for the right moment.
As for who had actually slain their leaders, rumors varied — some claimed it was a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, others said Muzan himself had been involved — but nothing was ever confirmed.
Eventually, the matter was dropped.
As the tensions between factions stabilized, Oboro found himself with nothing more to do. He stayed in his residence, letting the days drift by.
He simply watched the seeds he had planted grow wild and free across the passing years.
However, shortly before the dawn of the next decade, someone came to visit him.
It was Ubuyashiki Hideo — head of the Ubuyashiki clan of this generation.
He did not have long to live. Because of the curse tied to Muzan, almost every head of the clan died before reaching thirty.
Though he had taken over leadership while still very young, in his teens… time for people like him was precious and extremely limited.
It was never to be wasted.
Such was the fate of nearly all members of the clan.
Only now, at the very end of his life, had he finally summoned the courage to meet the man who had kept the entire Demon Slayer Corps on edge for so long.
In truth, very few people in the current Corps even knew Oboro existed.
Most of those who had known were dead.
Or else they were veterans from years past who had retired and become trainers — like the former Water Hashira, Kawai Ichimiya.
Ichimiya was still alive… thanks to his mastery of breathing techniques, he had avoided the early death usually brought on by the Demon Mark.
Rengoku Tenjurō, however, had not been so fortunate. Although he had learned to circulate inner energy, he lacked Ichimiya's natural talent.
He had fought for years yet never awakened his Mark. Despite his immense strength and skill, he had finally fallen in battle against an Upper Rank.
The three main factions — the inheritors, Muzan's forces, and the Demon Slayer Corps — were all growing rapidly, driven by constant conflict.
And it was not only the Demon Slayer Corps that grew stronger.
When Oboro met Hideo, the young leader was courteous and calm. There was no anger, no hatred, no hostility in his gaze.
Only a clarity that saw through all worldly things.
It was hard to believe someone under thirty could possess such poise and insight.
He did not speak at length during the meeting.
He left only one message.
He told Oboro that he treated the world as nothing more than a chessboard, toying with human lives to satisfy his own whims and doing whatever he pleased.
That he amused himself at the cost of countless lives, with no regard for their value.
In Hideo's eyes, Oboro was far more detestable and deserving of destruction than Muzan himself.
And he declared that one day, a future generation of Demon Slayers would rise and send Oboro straight to hell.
"Aren't you afraid I could wipe out the Corps right now?" Oboro had asked then.
"You wouldn't do that," Hideo replied, shaking his head, convinced he understood Oboro completely.
Oboro's amusement came from endless chaos. Remove any force capable of creating conflict, and his entertainment would be lessened.
In Hideo's view, Oboro possessed a rare and strange nature. He was untouched by normal human emotions and desires — or so it seemed.
But in truth, his desires were far greater and more intense, even if they were hidden.
He needed to see countless people die to satisfy his craving for control and the thrill of manipulation.
It was a twisted mindset.
Had Oboro not pulled the strings behind the scenes, the past ten‑odd years would never have seen such suffering and devastation.
Hideo also understood that without Oboro's protection, the Demon Slayer Corps would never have survived intact under the Shogunate's rule.
But that protection had never been kindness; it had only been to keep his "game" interesting and full of challenge.
That was why he spoke plainly: Oboro was a monster wearing human skin — worse than Muzan, and far more deserving of death.
Because he was dying anyway, he dared to speak his mind and did not fear Oboro in the least.
After speaking, Ubuyashiki Hideo bowed respectfully and took his leave.
What he had said was very close to the truth of Oboro's purpose — though he had misunderstood the core reason behind it.
Through years of investigation and observation, two generations of clan heads — from Ubuyashiki Hisano to Hideo — had come dangerously close to uncovering Oboro's "conspiracy."
But… they had not reached the truth.
Still, their intelligence and insight were truly remarkable.
Oboro felt no anger. It was inevitable that everything he did would meet resistance and hostility from the natives of this world.
After all… this was their home.
Although Oboro had arrived here from another world, having started his journey in the world of Full‑time Hunter, he still considered that world more suited to him — a place that felt somewhat like "home."
Under those circumstances, if something had suddenly appeared there, breaking the long‑held balance, seeking to destroy everything and reshape the world according to its own will…
Oboro would have been furious, and he too would have risen to fight against it.
It was only human nature.
This era had not yet fully ended, and Oboro had already witnessed many fascinating things and people.
He hoped the next era would prove even more brilliant.
