Chapter 20 - 8 Years Later

(Pov 3rd)

Eight years have passed since Gojo Satoshi entered the Zenin clan compound and left with two young girls. He had taken in the twins Zenin Maki and Zenin Mai, but not just that, he had managed to separate their souls without injury. This wasn't the only change in the Gojo brothers, though. Before this, Gojo Satoru had acted on the information given to him by Fushiguro Toji and went looking for the former assassin's child, Fushiguro Megumi. The young boy and his older stepsister, Fushiguro Tsumiki, had been moved to a house in the Saitama area of Tokyo. The Gojo brothers had spent the past years proving why they were considered the strongest, with Satoru being the strongest with Jujutsu and Satoshi the strongest in terms of physical attributes. They both had become full teachers at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, though, as usual, the school had just a few students each year, and Satoshi spent much of his free time training and teaching the young twins.

The other students who had attended with him, Nanami Kento and Haibara Yu, had also taken their own paths in life. Nanami had decided that being a sorcerer wasn't for him and went to work as a salaryman for a few years before once again rejoining the world of Jujutsu. Haibara, on the other hand, had left the world of Jujutsu after the loss of his arm during a mission gone wrong, though in recent years he had also rejoined in a support role as he had regained use of his shikigami. Geto Suguru, after taking time off, had also begun work as an official sorcerer. He and Amanai Riko had taken in two young girls, as well as the Hasaba twins, Hasaba Nanako and Hasaba Mimiko. They had been found in captivity following an anonymous tip about a village mistreating young sorcerers. Many in the village were arrested as the Jujutsu headquarters covered up the situation as a rogue cult abducting people.

Things were rather peaceful for the former students until much changed in early 2017, when the Jujutsu Headquarters learned of a Special Grade vengeful curse that was attached to a young man by the name of Okkotsu Yuta. When Yuta was a young boy, his best friend, Orimoto Rika, was killed in a car accident, and afterwards, she formed into a curse and began following Yuta around. As such, the higher-ups worried he might lose control and release Rika into the world, which could cause massive damage, and sentenced him to a secret execution to prevent this. The execution was prevented, though, as both Gojo Satoru and Gojo Satoshi stepped in on behalf of Yuta, who was then transferred to Tokyo Jujutsu High.

(Pov Satoshi)

I could hardly believe how long it had been. After living in this world for as long as I had, the events of the main story were about to begin. Okkotsu Yuta had been found, and both me and Satoru and I had intervened on his behalf. I knew more about the reason for Rika's existence as a curse than I should, as currently, Yuta thought he had been cursed. I was trying to figure out how to let him know and allow him to break the curse without making it sound like I knew too much, though I'm sure Satoru already had his own suspicions as well. The main issue would be that with Suguru not being evil, there'd be no fight, which would lead to Yuta offering his life to defeat Suguru, the event that allowed him to gain full control of her and finally release her to the afterlife.

That could wait, though, for now, I was waiting for Satoru to bring him around to the first-year class. This would be a relatively large class for Jujutsu High with five students, including Yuta. There were the original students Zenin Maki, Inumaki Toge, and Panda, but now there was also Zenin Mai. Since I had gotten them both out of the Zenin clan, I had managed to keep them together, meaning there was no hostility, and both of them had grown very quickly with my help and without the tether holding them back. Maki was incredibly strong now. With her full restriction active, she had gotten strong quickly, and her proficiency with a wide array of cursed tools was growing. Mai, on the other hand, had also grown, though I couldn't help her as much, so I had convinced Satoru and Suguru to help her learn how to use her technique, and since she had the total amount of cursed energy, she should have her Construction technique was much more useful. She could use it to create all kinds of different handheld weapons, which could function as temporary cursed tools. She could also use more advanced moves, such as forming more malleable bars to trap enemies. I also hoped that one day she'd be capable of creating some of the more advanced applications, such as the liquid metal, insect armor, and even the perfect sphere used by Yorozu.

While I was in charge of the first years for the most part, there were some aspects where others had to pitch in, the most obvious being anything cursed energy related, as there's only so much you can teach from just secondhand sources. So others like Satoru and Suguru, when he was around, had to fill in, and while Suguru wasn't an official teacher, he was a Special Grade, so he just did whatever he felt like. There was also Kusakabe, who helped mostly with the second-year students. He was helpful in learning control of cursed energy due to his lack of a cursed technique, making it necessary.

As I was thinking I heard Satoru and Yuta enter the hall and begin making their way to the class, and decided it was time to get their attention. "Alright, I'm sure you've all heard, but we have a new student joining us today. His name is Okkotsu Yuta. Also, when he enters the room, don't freak out, just trust me."

"Gojo-Sensei, what's so special about this guy?" Panda asked

"Spicy Tuna."

"Yeah, Satoshi, I heard he had some curse with him. Is that true?" That was Maki She, and Mai were the only ones who used my regular name, considering how long I had known them. The others never took me up on the offer, and despite having done this for a few years now, being referred to as Gojo-Sensei or Gojo-San was weird. Hakari and Hoshi, at least, were delinquent enough to use my name. I missed them sometimes, though I didn't miss Hakari constantly trying to make bets with me; he's freakishly lucky.

As I was about to respond, the door opened, and Yuta entered. Even without cursed energy myself, I could feel the pressure he was giving off as he hadn't yet learned how to regulate his own energy. As the others panicked and prepared to attack, I couldn't help but wonder about the future. Things had changed so much that I didn't know if I could still accurately predict events outside of some of the more major ones. But for now, I had a class of students to teach and everything else could wait.
