Dominic stood up and walked toward her, and her heart skipped a beat. Heat radiated from his body, close enough now that she could feel it on her skin. Her cheeks flushed instantly.
He lowered his head slightly and spoke, his voice low and strained. "You shouldn't be here."
Delfina tried to answer, but her throat went dry.
She recognized him immediately. He was the same man she had noticed earlier, the one who looked like he had stepped straight out of a myth. Tall, broad, devastatingly handsome. Seeing him this close made her pulse stumble violently.
"I only came here to escape from someone," she said, her words slurring despite her effort to sound normal. "I'll leave now."
She turned her back, ready to search for the door, but Dominic grabbed her arm and stopped her instantly. Before she could react, he buried his face in her neck.
Delfina froze.
He inhaled deeply, as if her scent alone was enough to undo him. The moment he breathed her in, his remaining control shattered.
