Peace had finally come to the world.
People smiled again. Shops were open. Children played near the Silver Forest without fear. For the first time in a long while, Ethan felt… normal.
He stood on a small hill, watching the village below.
"Do you think it will stay like this?" Lyria asked softly as she came to stand beside him.
Ethan nodded. "I hope so."
But deep inside, something felt wrong.
The mark on his chest—once burning with fate—was silent. Too silent.
Suddenly, the air turned cold.
Ethan's chest burned sharply. He gasped and fell to one knee as the cracked Fate Mark began to glow with a strange dark silver light.
"Ethan!" Lyria cried, holding him.
A voice echoed in his mind, calm and ancient.
Fate is broken.
The path is open.
"Who are you?" Ethan whispered through the pain.
High above the forest, the sky cracked like glass. A dark shape appeared for a moment, watching the world below.
People screamed. Shadows stretched across the ground.
Lyria stared in fear. "This isn't fate… this is something else."
Ethan forced himself to stand.
"If breaking fate caused this," he said firmly, "then I won't run from it."
The presence seemed to smile.
Bearer of choice, the voice said,
welcome to what comes next.
The sky closed.
The village grew quiet again.
But peace was gone.
