I woke up with sweat drenching my back. I had a nightmare last night; it was a strange vision of the destruction of the world, with a terrifying explosion of a star and a planet colliding, as if they were mixed together. It froze my bones.
Now, even while eating my comfort food, beef jerky doesn't get rid of the feeling. Miya has recovered from her stomach ache yesterday, but now it's my turn to feel unwell.
I asked my party member for help, and surprisingly Rex recommended that I visit the church for a check-up. He said I was cursed, but I don't believe him.
"Cursed?" I blinked my eyes once.
"Yes, I was cursed too once, but after some holy words were chanted, I recovered."
"But it's only a nightmare. How harmful could it have been?"
Rex's face turned serious. "It would only be minor at first, but if you ignore it long enough, even death is possible!"
"I'm not joking, dumbass!"
I became uneasy after hearing that and found myself walking to the town church. I arrived at the white building with angel wings designed on the sign.
I walked inside and wasn't surprised by the lack of people. Nowadays, most people are busy with other things beside worshiping God. But that's not why I'm here; I soon searched for a priest and was told to wait an hour as the priest hadn't returned yet.
I sat on one of the chairs in the church and tried praying. I clenched my hands and began, "Please make me rich! Please make me handsome!"...
As I was busy praying, a curse was uttered from my side. "Please make my ex-boyfriend die!"...
I was startled from my prayer and saw the person beside me. I was surprised to see her here, but not surprised by the kind of prayer she had.
It was Ophelia; her long pink hair was now tied up, and she was devoutly asking for her ex-boyfriend's death over and over again. Chill, bro!
I decided to ignore her and continued praying my own prayers. I grew bored and started taking out jerky to eat. Still, the nightmare flashed in my mind, and I began to feel nauseous. 'When is the priest going to come?' I grew irritated.
Ophelia, perhaps finding my munching an annoyance, snapped at me. "Would you shut it up!?"
She looked surprised by my appearance. "Oh! It's you, fugly!"
With the nightmare vision bothering me, I also snapped, "You shut up, foul-mouthed woman!"
She looked angry and decided to ignore me and continue praying. I was very bored, so I teased her, "Do you think God would answer a wish for someone's death?"
"Of course!" she blurted out.
I was surprised by the confidence she had in her prayer. Why don't I have such confidence? A nasty feeling appeared, and I escaped it by going to sleep.
While sleeping, the nightmare occurred again. This time I saw my party member being killed by my own hand, and I was laughing about it. I jolted awake.
Sweat flowed like a river from my face, and Ophelia was already gone. It was already night. I realized I had fallen asleep for the whole day. Wait, what about my healing? I checked with the one guarding the church, and luckily, the priest was still around.
I hastened to the priest's prayer room and paid the fee for healing magic. Soon, the priest brought his hand to my head, and I felt a soothing energy enter me. I gained clarity, and all my bad thoughts, feelings, and visions went away. I felt energized.
I thanked the priest and headed back to the inn. While walking through the night town, I saw Ophelia sitting alone on one of the benches.
Ophelia?
I walked past her, not knowing what she was thinking about in the middle of the night. I didn't want to involve myself with this woman. Shit, now all my pleasant feelings were gone, thinking about her past words. Geez, man.
To be continued...
