The corporate office felt like stepping into another world entirely. Everything screamed money and power, from the gleaming marble floors to the scent of premium coffee drifting through the air. This whole nine-to-five existence felt foreign after everything I'd been through. The receptionist had barely glanced at me while clipping the visitor badge onto my blazer, directing me toward the elevators with that practiced smile reserved for nobodies. I pushed my blonde wig back slightly and adjusted my glasses, double-checking that my fake ID badge displayed Gemma Poley clearly.
The elevator chimed softly as the doors parted. My disguised reflection gazed back from the polished metal walls. Blonde hair perfectly styled. Neutral expression locked in place. Every detail calculated to hide who I really was. I breathed out quietly, "Just another office worker, Gemma. Nothing more."
