The next morning, Anna found Leo near the motor-pool. She was supposed to be headed to the infirmary for a routine check-up, but she diverted. She needed to tell him that Dante was suspicious.
"Leo," she whispered, ducking behind a stack of tires.
Leo turned, his face brightening. "Anna. I was worried. I heard Marco's disappearance caused a stir with the Council."
"Dante knows about the chocolate," she said quickly. "He didn't name you, but he knows. You have to be careful. He's... he's different lately. He's obsessed with 'order'."
Leo's expression darkened. "He's obsessed with you, Anna. That's the only 'order' he cares about. Listen, the plan for the boat is still on. Three days from now. But there's something you need to see. It might help you realize why you *have* to leave."
"What is it?"
"The North Cellars," Leo whispered. "He's been bringing in 'problems' from the city. Men who won't sign over their businesses to his new brand. It's not 'clean' like he tells you in the library."
"Dante says he doesn't do messy work anymore," Anna said, though a seed of doubt was planted.
"Go there tonight. Use the service elevator behind the kitchen. If you see it, you won't feel so guilty about leaving him."
