My name is AIBINUOLA AZEEZ (vigoweesky), and this is the story of how life changed for me at a very young age.
I was in Primary Two when I lost my mother. At an age when a child should only be thinking about school, play, and comfort, I was introduced to loss and responsibility. From that moment, everything changed in our home.
When my mum passed away, help did not come from family or relatives. There was no support, no shared burden, no safety net. Only my father stood firm. He carried the weight of parenting alone and became everything for us—father, protector, provider, and strength.
At that time, my brother was in Primary Five, and my mum left behind a seven-month-old baby girl. Life became harder, but my dad did not give up. With determination and sacrifice, he worked tirelessly to ensure that we stayed in school and had a future. Through his efforts, I was able to complete my secondary school education.
My little sister was cared for by our grandmother, who raised her with patience, love, and responsibility. Sadly, after some time, my grandmother also passed away. Losing her felt like reopening an old wound. One after the other, the people who meant the most to us were taken away.
These experiences forced us to grow up early. Childhood became short, and responsibility came fast. Pain became familiar, but so did strength.
Through all of this, I learned important lessons—resilience, patience, and self-reliance. I learned that life does not always offer comfort, but it always offers lessons. I carry scars from my past, but I also carry faith.
As a Muslim, I believe that Allah sees every silent struggle, every tear, and every sacrifice. Nothing is wasted in His sight. My story is not just about loss; it is about survival, growth, and purpose.
This is where my journey begins.
