Kai did have to agree that waiting for Rain to fully wake up wasn't the most satisfying experience.
Usually, he could at least get a sense of how Rain was doing, but in his current state, not even he could get a peek.
Rain's soul had gone somewhere only the system had authority, after all.
All he could thus do was wait impatiently to see if Rain would open his eyes.
From the looks of it, Rain hadn't experienced any soul damage that was too bad, and while he had definitely exhausted himself, he'd luckily also chugged down a health tonic that should rapidly help hasten his recovery.
It had been three light and dark cycles that Kai had been watching him– licking his face clean, the cauterised wound also.
But the anxiety and impatience got to him and so...
~Lick~
~Lick~
Urgh.
His master groans, rousing from slumber, yet still not waking up fully.
And so, the little beast ___ its efforts.
~Lick~
~Lick~
Urgh.
Rain groggily rubs his eyes, fully awake.
"Kai, stop. Stop it." He laughs feeling the ticklish tongue on his face.
[Ding! You have been poisoned]
He visibly pales as he glimpses at the notification, his thoughts racing, only to be inturrupted by a subsequent chime.
[You have resisted]
~Lick~
The little critter licks him again whilst excitedly wagging its scaled tail, eliciting rapid and subsequent chimes.
Rain rises from his bed, only to be assaulted by a spliting headache, akin to being hit on the head by a freight train.
Urgh.
He groans, clutching his head.
Nonetheless, he grits his teeth and proceeds to stand– his muscles vehemently protesting against any movement whatsoever.
He stretches his sore muscles, his joints audibly crackling as he did so.
His eyes sweeps across the dimly lit lair, landing on the treant's head, recoiling when he glimpses its anguished and horror ladden expression.
"How long has it been?" He questions, directed to no one in particular.
Kai ears perks up, he starts to jump up and down, as if trying to communicate.
Rain laughs off the little beasts antics, urging the system interface open.
Lo and behold, all his area of sight is covered with series of notification.
Most prompting his poisoning and his resistance to the toxin.
One that caught his eyes before scrolling up was one that prompted his increase in poison resistance.
Scrolling down, he comes to the first unread notification:
[Ding! New title gained...]
[The gambler]
You gambled with death but won despite the odds stacked against you. Mother fortune shines her grace upon you.
Your gambits have an increased chance at showing favourable results.
Be warned __ is unpredictable.
"Huh?" Rain mutters, puzzled.
His face contorts in disbelief as he reads through the description.
*You have to be kidding me*
"Surely, there must be something wrong with the titles, first the empath then this..."
He sputters,
Eventually he stops his ranting, realising nobody was listening to him at the moment– even Kai had suddenly gone quiet, sulking at a corner.
"What's the matter boi?" He questions.
The weasel lets out a snort and turns its back on him.
Rain shrugs, unsure on how to proceed...eventually going back to the floating screen.
[Ding! Achievement earned.]
He urges it open;
[You have gone against all odds, besting a superior creature and surviving to tell the tale.
Your actions of unrelenting will and unparalleled might is recorded amongst the legendary epics of the old within the great tapestry.
Stand proud. The exalted one acknowledges.]
*This again!*
He hollers, his brows contorting with frustration.
There is some divine being somewhere with a lot of time on its hands... and with nothing better to do than prank this poor soul.
*Tsk!*
Rain muses, clicking in disbelief and ignoring the notification.
He regards the remaining, confusion apparent, judging from his expression.
[Ding! Conditions met.]

[You have gained a new shade!]
There was no info on them despite further prodding, and so he urges the whole interface to unfold.
The runes twist and flicker before revealing everything.

His attempts yield no response.
Faced with failure again and again, he clicks on [unnamed]
A great surge of arcana gets sapped from his body and the shadows cast within the lair, a dizzy and disorienting feeling that was so overwhelming that he had to lean against the wall to support himself.
A notification blinks before him.
[Name.]
He disregards it his full focus pinned on the motes of grey and black arcana.
The motes coalesce forming a dark and ominous outline– one he was so familiar with.
Yelp!
A girlish yelp escapes from his lips as he jumped back, retreating as far as he could from the abberant creature.
[Name selected: Yelp.]
[Confirm : Yes /No]
To his utmost shock the system chimes, startling him.
The creature's form solififies, making an exact replica of the treant that almost killed him!
No!
He shouts, wanting to further retreat but the walls holding him back.
Kai snarls and growls at the creature standing before them.
He lunged its little figure streaking through the air, sinking its fangs into the creature– aiming to deliver a payload of lethal venom.
To Kai's utter surprise and astonishment, his body cuts through the imposing creature as if smoke, the momentum carrying him forth.
He strikes the wall with a resounding twack, whimpering as he scampered back into Rain's hand.
Rain was now visibly trembling, his fingers curled into a fist– heart thrumming as if there was no tomorrow.
