Chapter 5 - Death God

The sun was already high in the sky, and a little girl was cultivating in the middle of the grass field. Beside her lay the Blood God, and a huge black dragon was flying in the sky, likely searching for something.

Xiao Yu has been cultivating diligently since she got this spell book, while Blood God simply ignore it, enjoying his life. But they came down the mountain to complete their monthly task.

"Lord, I found all the herbs you asked for," The Black Dragon said, descending on the ground with a huge chunk of several different kinds of mountain herbs.

The Blood God glanced at him and nodded. Xiao Yu also walked over, staring at the huge chunk of herbs. She felt a bit dizzy. Her storage pouch had only 1 meter of cubic area, while the Black dragon brought almost a small mountain of herbs. So, she just filled her pouch completely before saying, "I can only take this much; it's already more than enough."

Hearing her words, the black dragon, a bit angry, he had wasted his time picking these herbs; now they don't even need them. It was pure humiliation, but he couldn't say or do anything as long as that man was still here. The black dragon was about to throw away the remaining herbs when Xiao Yu called him again.

"Lord Dragon, why don't you give it to the village below the mountain? At least this way it will come in use," she said in a low voice.

The dragon initially wanted to ignore her words, but after thinking of the man lying there, he decided to do it, giving no reason for that guy to target him.

The Black Dragon took all the remaining herbs and flew down towards the village. As he descended below the mountain, it didn't even try to hide his presence, which caused panic among the villagers. The dragon's presence didn't just scare the villagers; even those Daoists from the floating cloud sect who had come down the mountain were also terrified.

The mortals looked up at the Daoist for help, while these Daoists were the first to run away, which even caused more fear among the villagers. The Black dragon was taking his time to enjoy the fear he and the myth of the dragon, which he hadn't experienced for a few days.

"These mortals are truly hopeless, relying on these so-called immortal cultivators for protection, the ones who can scarify their family for power. How could they think that these types of people will protect them?" The Black Dragon was looking down on the cultivators and mortals, having the feeling of superiority.

Amidst the fleeing cultivators and a horrified mortal, a woman's figure stood out. She confronted the dragon head-on.

The woman didn't say anything, standing in mid-air, confronting the dragon, seeing her step out, mortals were filled with joy. Even the black dragon took an extra glance at her.

She was wearing a white robe; a white silk wrapped around her eyes. She wasn't carrying any weapon, just herself. The dragon was quite shocked at her courage. He opened his mouth, trying to scare her off, but he didn't want to harm her. But when he was trying to scare, a flying sword hit his right eye. Luckily, he closed his eyes in time, and the sword broke into fragments. He roared at the sky, causing the earth to shake, and the woman in front of him also fell from the sky, but she was saved by another man.

The man tried to escape with the woman, but the dragon's claw hit him on the back, tearing through his protective armour. The Black Dragon was fully enraged by the attacker. He didn't let him escape as he spat his dragon fire at him.

The man quickly threw out a lot of protective talisman, only to buy a few extra seconds before the fire devoured them, but just when the fire was about to burn them, a very sweet melody rang into the air. It wasn't loud, wasn't aggressive, but was strangely calm, forming a very small protective area for them.

The woman was playing a purple flute, her music giving them protection, but the dragon didn't want to give up; he spat even more fire.

While this drama was playing off here, the blind woman's music was already noticed by the Blood God. It was just the time he had shown any expression since awakening. His figure disappeared, appearing just slightly away from the woman.

The woman was playing a purple flute, while a man stood in front of her trying his best to do whatever he could to help her, draining his own Qi to strengthen the barrier.

The Blood God's eyes were locked on the woman; she wasn't someone he had seen for the first time; it was just that he hadn't seen her for a long time. Seeing her just after a few days of awakening was the last thing he could imagine.

After all, she had already become a saint, even before his imprisonment. As the Blood God was still in a daze, the rhythm of music changed as she started to play a familiar song.

"The Call of Soul," The Blood God muttered. He wanted to end this chaos, but this familiar song made him pause, shaking his soul to the core.

Far away from here, a man dressed in commoner clothes was giving a lecture to a few servants for not doing their work, when he suddenly heard a familiar sound in his ears. The man didn't react at all, sending the servant back to their work before walking into his room, muttering in a low voice, "So, she also came to steal last hope for sainthood from the hands of God Emperor. She truly didn't disappoint us. Little Skull and Blood are both still sleeping, or it would have been nice to meet up."

At the Blood God side, a gigantic shadow was being materialised in the thin air as the strange cries from the underworld filled the surroundings. The illusory soul stepped out from the netherworld, dancing in the rhythm of music.

A figure came into existence, and the dragon froze in his place. As the shadow of death loomed over him, the huge black shadow moved, slashing its enormous scythe, cutting through the space, coming straight for the Black Dragon. Just when the scythe was about to strike the black dragon, the Blood God appeared in front of him, and the scythe paused just an inch away from him.

Seeing this, the Black Dragon felt blessed because his few days of embarrassment had saved his life.

In the mortal village, the man had a strange expression on his face, sensing the reluctance of the scythe.

"So, he had already met her," The man spoke, while closing his eyes.

As the man closed his eyes, the shadow wielding the scythe opened his eyes. The shadow stared at the Blood God, then at the blind girl who had fallen unconscious long ago, before turning to the Blood God again and giving him a creepy smile. Seeing the shadow's reaction, the Blood God said, "When did you wake up?"

The shadow raised the scythe with both hands and slashed at the Blood God again. This time, even the Blood God couldn't remain calm, raising his hand to grab the tips of the massive scythe. In front of a gigantic shadow, the Blood God's figure was as tiny as an ant, yet it was able to hold off the scythe. But seeing this shadow's smile even wider as it unleashed a little bit more strength to cut through the Blood God's hand, stopping at his neck.

"Haha…" A cryptic laughter remained in the wind as the shadow vanished, leaving the fear behind.

In the mortal village, a smile had appeared on the man's face as he ordered the servant to prepare a hefty meal for him.

The Blood God didn't even look back to see if the shadow had left or not. Instead, he was calm as usual, walking towards the unconscious woman as he picked her up into his arms, and he also ordered to the black dragon to take the man with him.

Though he may not like the man, she had always been the one to repay kindness first. So, it's better to settle things on her behalf.
