Chapter 225 - Chapter 225: Finally facing the leader!

A crisp sound echoed as the Walker's upper and lower jaws clashed together.

Shawn watched the zombified Medicine Ghost stumble to its feet, only to totter and fall again when it tried to bite, feeling a bit helpless.

"Come on, you're a professional. Do I really need to teach you how to bite?"

The Walker lifted its bewildered head, seemingly not understanding, and stared blankly at Shawn with its white-rolled eyes.

Shawn had no choice but to step forward, grasp the back of its neck, and guide its wide-open mouth towards the neck of a person lying on the ground.

It seemed still in disbelief, pausing for two seconds before biting down, tearing off a clump of bloody flesh.

The person lying on the ground still had a joyful smile on their face right before death, completely unaware that their throat had been slit by a Walker.

After biting the first person, the Walker seemed to have its vital channels cleared, turning its head to bite Shawn.

How could Shawn indulge it?

He raised his hand and slapped it, sending it spinning several times before it landed in front of another person.

Walkers have no brains or pain receptors, so they don't get tangled up. It just looked at the person in front of it and bit down, its sharp teeth once again targeting the neck.

"Not bad, this corpse is teachable." Shawn nodded in satisfaction at the sight.

Biting other parts of the body was too slow; it could take tens of minutes or even several hours from being bitten to death, slowly sickening the body until the host died, and only then would it turn into a Walker.

But biting the neck was much faster. The artery and trachea were both there, and death would come in less than half a minute.

Sure enough, by the time the Walker had bitten the fifth person, the first person bitten had already stood up.

Taking advantage of the time before their instincts fully awakened, Shawn slowly retreated out of the room, hiding himself in the darkness.

Hiding in the darkness not only avoided humans but also reduced the chance of being discovered by Walkers.

Several minutes later, when Shawn saw the first Walker growling and shambling out of the room, he knew that the Supporterss and Zealots inside had mostly been devoured.

He quietly watched as more Walkers successively rose and emerged from the room.

"Go, go find people like yourselves. Tonight is an excellent opportunity."

Shawn roughly counted, and about 30-plus Walkers emerged from the side room. They did not discover Shawn. After leaving the room, they spread out in all directions, each following a path.

—Walkers will move towards population centers.

The previously vanished horde of corpses in the city must have been the same.

So even without Shawn's further assistance, they would instinctively fulfill their mission.

"Next, it's that true Cult Leader behind the scenes."

Shawn raised his head, his gaze sweeping around the villa estate. Then, he deftly flipped the iron great hammer in his hand and leisurely walked towards the second floor.

The villa estate had three floors in total, but the uppermost third floor was merely an attic made from leftover unusable space.

If Shawn were to put himself in the Cult Leader's shoes, he definitely wouldn't live on the third floor.

The center of the second floor faced the coast directly, a proper sea-view room, most suitable for someone like the Cult Leader who enjoyed lounging and enjoying things from behind the scenes.

So Shawn didn't bother with other rooms and went directly to the few rooms in the center.

Shawn hummed a tune softly, carrying his hammer, casually glancing around, and choosing a room on the right.

But just as he placed his hand on the doorknob, a faint sound from inside made him pause, his hand hovering above the round knob.

He heard several voices coming from inside.

"Are you awake?"

"If you're awake, you can prepare to depart."

The person's tone sounded somewhat condescending, carrying seven parts command in their speech.

Oh?

Shawn's eyes lifted the moment he heard the voice. He hadn't expected such a coincidence.

No, it shouldn't be called a coincidence.

It should be said that Shawn grasped the inner thoughts of people like them.

There were almost no Walkers in the entire state. Their subordinates were distributed throughout the state counties, guarding every road leading to the holy land, and they controlled all the resources of the state.

They were the local emperors of North Carolina. They could naturally enjoy all of this and would naturally keep the best for themselves.

However, they probably hadn't expected that someone could truly arrive here almost silently, standing just outside their door, silently listening to their conversation.

"My Cult Leader, how about we depart at dawn? It's just a few hours, nothing will happen. We've done it this way for several weeks before, haven't we?"

The person who answered spoke carelessly. Perhaps the comfortable life they had gradually settled into after taking control of the state had made them somewhat complacent.

"Are you bargaining with me?"

Hearing the question, almost devoid of all emotion, the person clearly flinched.

"Of course not. My meaning is… the goods prepared for them haven't been loaded yet. Perhaps we should take those goods with us when we leave here."

After that sentence fell, no more sounds came from inside.

Just as Shawn felt a bit confused, a series of scattered noises suddenly came again.

Then, accompanied by a scream, everything returned to silence.

Gradually, footsteps approached. Two Supporterss, one on the left and one on the right, hastily helped a person out.

The person's face was a bloody mess, with half a burnt cigar embedded in their eyeball, looking incredibly grotesque.

But they came out in a hurry, completely unaware of Shawn, who was perched in the darkness above the doorframe.

"I told you to stop talking!"

The person on the left whispered to the injured Supporters.

"Fuck! Shit! Bastard!!"

"Without us, could he enjoy everything he has now?!"

"Even the medicine has to be shared with those monstrous things!"

"Do you know that each portion we give them is enough for us for at least half a year?!"

The person ignored the pain, just endured their anger and roared softly.

The person on the right suddenly let go upon hearing this, causing him to fall directly to the ground, letting out an even more piercing wail.

"If you want to go, you can go back to him now. We absolutely won't stop you."

"Just don't forget how he treated those devils back then, rising to prominence, even that substitute was afraid to escape."

Hearing his companion's voice, the anger on the person's face receded, and his body instinctively trembled, almost identical to the first Elynn's reaction.

Immediately, he dared not say more, and all the thoughts that had just risen in his heart were completely reined in. Ignoring the pain, he hobbled to catch up with his companion and left.

Shawn lightly leaped from the doorframe, his feet touching the ground as softly as a sheet of paper, making almost no sound.

He watched the three people disappear down the corridor, taking in everything that had just happened.
