Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Hanabi: Fun

"Give it back to me!"

Hanabi turned, avoiding Naruto who was lunging at her. She also tied a red string around the book of seals, reinforcing it for a second time. However, in actuality, Hanabi's Chakra had also permeated into it.

To achieve faster cultivation, Hanabi always wore Mirror Flow's black gauze eye mask. To perceive the outside world, she mainly relied on constantly and subtly spreading out her Chakra, which gave her skilled Chakra control. Copying a few Ninjutsu from a scroll was a piece of cake.

"Give it back to me!" Naruto was getting anxious, running over, and then gently led away by Hanabi, causing him to lunge to the other side.

"Naruto, you're an idiot, but I don't think you'd do something like steal the book of seals."

"Hanabi, don't interfere with my mission!" Uzumaki Naruto fell flat on his face, but then turned around and pounced again.

"Seeing how hard you're working, you must be learning Ninjutsu," Hanabi squatted in front of Uzumaki Naruto, "Let me think, did someone tell you something? For example, that you could graduate if you got the scroll?"

"Eh?!" Uzumaki Naruto was startled.

"Hmm, let me think. This afternoon, when I was talking to you, a fly kept buzzing around… It was Mizuki, wasn't it?"

[Detective Hanabi is here!]

[It was intentional this afternoon after all!]

[Holy crap, she understands so well, I'm crying]

[There must be super powerful Ninjutsu on this, Hanabi-sama doesn't care at all]

[What a waste! She's not even looking!]

[In my opinion, the Ninjutsu in this scroll probably isn't anything good.]

[Actually, it's a typical Japanese mind game. I have an invincible secret technique, but hey, I just won't look at it, to make you anxious.]

"Uzumaki Naruto. Do you know?" Hanabi looked at the shocked Uzumaki Naruto, "The so-called book of seals contains Forbidden Jutsu. These are techniques that violate common sense, or techniques that can harm oneself. In other words, the things on it are not good things."

As she spoke, Hanabi had already copied a few techniques.

Although she didn't care, a thief doesn't leave empty-handed. Since she was already there, how could she not take some wool along the way?

Don't tell me, there really was Edo Tensei, and besides that, there was also Four Symbols Seal and Mutual Exploding Tag.

Besides these, Summoning Technique and Hidden Lotus were also there.

Hmm… that's right, Summoning Technique, which allows for the summoning of creatures, is actually a Forbidden Jutsu. It was also the case in the original work.

While she wasn't very interested, what needed to be remembered still had to be remembered.

I may not use it, but you can't not have it.

That's how it is.

"To make you take the book of seals, to make you learn the Ninjutsu on it. Uzumaki Naruto, do you think the content of the 'make-up exam' would be like this?" Hanabi asked a soul-piercing question.

"Then Mizuki-sensei…" Although Uzumaki Naruto was a fool, he wasn't intellectually disabled. After Hanabi's words, he understood—Mizuki was deceiving him.

"Uzumaki Naruto! Hanabi, you're here too! Great!"

After the book of seals was stolen, the Third Hokage mobilized the Village to search for Uzumaki Naruto. Iruka was also called out.

After finding Uzumaki Naruto and seeing the book of seals in Hanabi's hand, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hanabi, quickly give me the book of seals. Uzumaki Naruto, you, how could you do something so reckless!"

Iruka said as he walked towards Hanabi.

"Okay, Iruka-sensei, here's the scroll—"

Hanabi directly threw the scroll to the side.

Iruka's gaze was drawn to the scroll, but in the next instant, Hanabi had already moved close, and the Kunai in her hand had already pierced forward!

"Clang!"

The sound of metal clashing, and "Iruka" was directly sent flying by Hanabi.

"Ha-Hanabi?! Why are you attacking Iruka-sensei?!" Uzumaki Naruto was stunned when he saw this scene.

His brain capacity was not enough to tell him what exactly had happened.

"Damn it, how did you know I wasn't Iruka…" "Iruka" was sent flying under a tree, and the Transformation Technique failed. After a puff of smoke, Mizuki's appearance was revealed.

"Eh eh eh?!" Uzumaki Naruto was dumbfounded.

And just at this moment, the real Iruka walked over from the side, holding the book of seals with a complex expression.

Iruka arrived before Mizuki. But after realizing that Hanabi was talking to Uzumaki Naruto, he decided to observe for a bit.

Hanabi's voice was loud, clearly speaking to him.

However, before Iruka could come out, another "Iruka" walked over. Without a doubt, the one who had transformed into him was that Mizuki over there.

"Why did it turn out like this?" Uzumaki Naruto was completely bewildered.

"They just don't want you to learn the Ninjutsu inside and unseal yourself. Let me tell you what's going on, Uzumaki Naruto." Mizuki leaped up and stood on a tree.

"Damn it, don't say it!" Iruka was anxious; he immediately realized what Mizuki was trying to do.

But Mizuki was looking down from above and wasn't afraid of Iruka rushing over, and Iruka was holding the book of seals, so he was also afraid of Mizuki snatching it away.

Mizuki sneered: "Twelve years ago, the Village made a certain rule, a rule that only you, Uzumaki Naruto, could not know a certain secret."

"Only me? Why?!" Uzumaki Naruto widened his eyes.

"Don't say it, Mizuki!" Iruka threw Kunai, but they were all struck down by the giant windmill shuriken Mizuki carried with him.

Mizuki continued: "That is the rule that absolutely no one should reveal Uzumaki Naruto's true identity as the Demon Fox—that's right, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox who killed Iruka's parents and destroyed the Village is you, Uzumaki Naruto!"

"Eh?"

The shocking truth plunged Uzumaki Naruto into silence.

"Uzumaki Naruto." Iruka wanted to go up and comfort Uzumaki Naruto, but Mizuki's gaze was constantly fixed on the book of seals in his hand.

Iruka dared not act rashly, to avoid being taken by Mizuki.

Hanabi's action of directly throwing the book of seals to Iruka, on the contrary, put Iruka in a passive position.

"That Mizuki, he actually told the truth." The Sandaime saw the current situation through the crystal ball. But he also looked worriedly towards Hanabi.

Hanabi was one of Uzumaki Naruto's few friends. Now that Hanabi knew about this, would she distance herself from Uzumaki Naruto?

[Here it comes, here it comes, typical Japanese scapegoat mentality.]

[Classic, too classic. It's 4202, and we can still see such a classic plot.]

[Don't say classic, it's still being used now, new anime all follow this trope.]

The scene fell silent, but the audience on the other side was discussing quite heatedly.

"Pfft." A laugh broke the silence.

Hanabi chuckled.

"What are you laughing at?!"

Mizuki was anxious.

Now there were three people on the other side: Hanabi, Naruto, and Iruka, and the situation was at a stalemate. Once more people arrived, his plan would fail.

Even if there were only two people, Mizuki would have been bold enough to attack, but the current situation was actually unfavorable to him. So Mizuki wanted to instigate Naruto, not to make him stand with him, but just to make him stand opposite Iruka.

On the other hand, Hanabi was more troublesome.

His good deeds were interrupted by her again and again, almost as if it were on purpose.

"Oh, I just think this clown show is very interesting. Mizuki-sensei, you have a talent for being a clown."

Hanabi's voice was unhurried.

Hmm, that's right, she knew Mizuki was anxious, so she did it on purpose; she just wanted to mess with Mizuki's mindset.

"Nani?!"

Not just Mizuki, but Naruto and Iruka next to him also looked at Hanabi with strange eyes.

"The villagers are merely ignorant and weak. Because the target of their hatred was sealed by the Fourth Hokage, they no longer had a target to hate. So they attributed their suffering to an ignorant child, venting their hatred, because a child... won't resist, you see. Ah, it's just like ignorant beasts. Oh, no, beasts... at least they know to protect their young."

—What was she saying?

Naruto's brain capacity wasn't quite enough.

But he roughly understood that Hanabi seemed to be... speaking up for him?

Hmm, probably?

Mizuki on the other side naturally understood Hanabi's meaning. But such words couldn't break Mizuki's defense. Mizuki sneered; he had thought Hanabi would have a profound argument, but now it seemed she was nothing special, a kid was just a kid.

"But you—are incompetent, aren't you?"

Mizuki immediately couldn't hold it together.

"There's no point in a Chunin taking the book of seals. As for the Ninjutsu on it, if I may be frank, you probably can't even understand it. Even if the book of seals were given to you, you wouldn't be able to make any waves; you're just a clown. For someone as incompetent as you, there must be a mastermind behind you. But no matter what, an executor like you won't end up well; you are, in fact, a pawn."

Mizuki directly threw his giant shuriken: "Bastard!"

Naruto hadn't broken his defense yet, but Mizuki had.

"Hanabi!"

Mizuki's attack was very sudden, and Iruka rushed over, but couldn't stop it.

"Hanabi!"

Naruto screamed even louder when he saw the huge shuriken tear through Hanabi.

However, Hanabi's shadow then vanished like a mirage.

Then, Hanabi's voice came from the other side: "It's a Genjutsu."

"Nani?!" Mizuki turned his head and looked at Hanabi on the branch beside him.

He was instantly startled—when did Hanabi appear here?!

"I mean, during the graduation exam, I really did use Genjutsu. For you not to have even noticed that, are you really a Chunin?" Hanabi smiled as she revealed the truth of the graduation exam.

"Indeed... I knew it!" Iruka on the other side covered his face.

Although Hanabi had no flaws, Iruka, based on Hanabi's usual behavior, always felt something was off; Hanabi's demeanor was also a bit different from usual. Now it seemed she was indeed messing around at the time. And Mizuki... naturally didn't notice.

"Mizuki-sensei, you are truly below a maggot."

...

Hidden Lotus are actually all Forbidden Jutsu.

It's quite absurd that in one episode of the anime, Kakashi teaches the children to use the Summoning Technique, but in the setting book, this thing is a dangerous Forbidden Jutsu.

One can only say that if one wants to force an explanation, it's that after a period of development, the Summoning Technique is no longer dangerous and has become commonplace. Orz.
