Chapter 1 - New Moon:Meeting

The night of the new moon blanketed the sky.

No light pierced the darkness, yet the air around Kurohana High School felt heavy—like it was hiding secrets.

As the morning bell rang, the school came alive—laughter, chatter, and hurried footsteps echoing through the halls.

Rei Ayan sat by the window, gazing outside.

The sunlight stung his eyes, but he didn't understand why.

All he could think was:

"Why does my body feel so strange today?"

At that moment, the classroom door opened.

A new girl stepped in.

Black hair, pale skin, and eyes that held a calm he couldn't place—

she looked like she belonged somewhere else entirely.

The teacher introduced her:

"Class, this is Luna Kisaragi. She's a transfer student."

Luna's gaze swept across the classroom.

Her eyes met Rei's—and in that instant, both froze.

A strange pulse hit their chests.

A heartbeat skipped.

Neither of them understood why.

During break, Rei found himself on the rooftop—his usual escape from the sun and the crowd.

The door creaked, and Luna appeared.

"Sorry… I didn't know anyone was here," she said softly.

Rei offered a faint smile.

"It's fine. I come here to breathe."

Luna stepped closer, her hand trembling slightly.

Rei noticed immediately.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

After a brief pause, she replied,

"Sometimes… I feel like I don't belong anywhere."

Rei stayed silent, feeling the weight of her words.

It was as if she had spoken what he had always felt himself.

As evening fell, the school emptied.

Beneath the old wing, hidden in shadows of the new moon night, lay the Blood Altar—

its surface glowing faintly crimson, waiting.

At the same moment:

Rei stared into his mirror at home.

For a fleeting second, his eyes flared a deep, unnatural red.

Luna, in her dormitory room, pressed a hand to her chest,

her heartbeat racing faster than normal.

Both whispered simultaneously, though miles apart:

"What… is happening to me?"

The new moon set, leaving no light behind.

Yet the fates of two unaware vampires

had begun to intertwine.
