Luke picked up the giant Tribute Coin as Frieda vanished into motes of light, reappearing outside in front of the Elementalist stands. Phiodor looked outraged. Elementalist-D was the first team to be completely out of the competition.
Meanwhile, inside the battlefield, Luke was just about to turn and hand the coin to Cassandra when a violet energy coiled around his wrist.
A hex.
His arm went numb, causing the coin to slip and fall from his fingers.
Amira stepped out from behind a stone formation, her hands glowing with brilliant violet light. Behind her, Soren's healing magic shimmered, keeping everyone at peak condition. And Jon-Mark, who had already imprinted six detection runes around the perimeter, stepped up behind Soren.
With those detection runes, a web of awareness was created which would make ambush impossible. Enchanter-D's strategy so far was proving ingenious.
"Sorry," Amira said, not sounding sorry at all. "But we've been patient long enough."
