Chapter 1 - The Era Of Shinobi

There was once a time when the world was ruled by true peace.

At least, that was what the history books claimed.

They spoke of an age when the nations stood together, when people lived without fear, and when the world knew nothing of the bloodshed that would eventually consume it.

But the truth was far different.

Long before the war-torn era, before the shinobi were feared and respected, before villages became battlefields and children were trained to kill, an ancient myth was uncovered.

A myth that would change the world forever.

The ancient legends spoke of Elemental Dragons mythical creatures said to possess power beyond anything humanity had ever known.

Each dragon carried within itself an elemental essence, a source of unimaginable power.

For centuries, the dragons existed only in stories.

Until they were discovered.

The moment their existence was proven, everything changed.

The essence of the Elemental Dragons became the greatest treasure in the world.

Nations desired it.

Clans sought it.

Villages fought for it.

And before long, the world that had once known peace began tearing itself apart.

Within the nine nations, villages began creating armies. Clans slaughtered one another in the pursuit of power.

Alliances were formed and broken.

Entire communities were dragged into conflicts they never wanted.

And among those caught in the middle were the shinobi.

Shinobi were sent into battles they never wanted to fight, carrying out orders from people who would never step onto the battlefield themselves.

They were trained to fight.

Trained to kill.

Trained to obey.

All for the sake of the shinobi system.

A system that treated them not as human beings, but as weapons.

To the nations, a shinobi's worth was measured by their strength.

The stronger they were, the more valuable they became.

And those who possessed extraordinary abilities were often feared just as much as they were respected.

To the world, they were monsters.

And so, the war-torn era began.

Shinobi were born into a world where their lives were defined by battle, where their worth was measured by the strength they possessed, and where children were taught that their duty came before their humanity.

But every story has a beginning.

And this one began with a boy who had yet to understand what the world truly was.

"Well... that's at least what I know about it."

The young boy sat beside his younger sister, his voice lowering as he finished the story.

Miyuki stared at him with wide, curious eyes.

"And then what happened, big brother?"

Inochi smiled. "Well, Miyuki"

Knock. Knock.

The sound of someone knocking on the door interrupted him.

Both siblings turned toward the entrance.

"Inochi," a man's voice called from the other side. "It's time for bed."

Miyuki's expression immediately changed.

"Wait!" she protested. "He was just getting to the best part, Father!"

The door opened, revealing their father standing in the doorway.

He looked toward Inochi before speaking.

"Inochi has to attend the dojo tomorrow, it will be his first day meeting his sensei and his team."

Inochi glanced at his sister.

He could see the disappointment written across her face.

"Don't worry, Miyuki," he said with a small smile. "We can finish this another time."

Miyuki looked at him suspiciously.

"You promise me?"

Inochi smiled.

"I promise."

The room fell quiet.

Neither of them knew it yet, but the story they had been talking about was more than an ancient history lesson.

It was the history of the world they had been born into.

And tomorrow, Inochi would take his first step toward becoming a shinobi.

A step that would eventually lead him into a world far darker than the stories in the history books had ever revealed.
