"I want you to come with me to the... Mermaid's Flower Garden."
Junior's voice was low. The name hung in the air between them, strange and unfamiliar.
Cael raised an eyebrow as he asked,
"Hm. So suddenly. Did you see a future vision?"
Junior shook his head. His blind eyes stared at nothing, but his expression was firm.
"No. But it will help us grow stronger and faster in the shortest time possible."
Cael paused. He did not answer immediately. The words settled into his mind, heavy with implication.
If the rewards were tempting enough, Cael would consider the proposal.
Cael was not worried about Junior getting revenge or giving false information. After all, Cael had made Junior his subordinate.
The mana contract bound him. He could not lie. He couldn't try to harm his master. The consequences would be worse than death.
If the rewards were good, then that meant the journey was going to be just as dangerous. Nothing worthwhile came without cost.
