Chapter 8 - Drink MILK!

As an ordinary person, personally slaying an alien had caused some changes in his mindset.

"I'm a redstone player, I'm a redstone player. As everyone knows, redstone players have no emotions."

After chanting this comfort to himself, David's mood improved significantly.

He walked back to the wooden boat trapping Otis and pulled the wooden boat toward the stream he had left earlier.

Picking up the oars, the man and the cow followed the current back the way they came, sailing the boat over dry land as they left the ship and returned outside.

"Wait, where did my huge torch go?"

From a distance, David saw that a piece of the wall corner he had built was missing. What made his heart tighten even more was that one of the torches he had placed on the wall was gone.

David hadn't mined any coal yet, so he had to use every torch sparingly and remembered them clearly.

He trotted over to the ensign's side. Seeing soldier on the ground with a dying breath, David suppressed his questions and temporarily set the torch issue aside.

By now, ensign's skin had turned pale, and his scalp was beginning to slough off.

David picked up the washbasin-sized bucket and poured the entire bucket of beast milk directly into ensign's mouth.

The soldier's consciousness was sinking into a boundless darkness.

In the blur, he saw his long-departed relatives and a figure radiating a golden glow.

He was almost moved to tears, "Is it you? Empe..."

A powerful pulling force dragged him back.

"Hey, hey, hey, can you hear me?"

He looked around blankly, his gaze finally settling on David, who was holding an empty bucket.

The plague effect was gone; it actually worked.

David saw with his own eyes the zombie plague icon disappear from the ensign's status bar.

A surge of joy filled his heart; it seemed Nurgle's infection was nothing more than this.

[A Great Being is displeased with your actions]

[Attract the attention of the remaining four beings to unlock the mod: Mysterious Relics]

Seeing the text appearing in the chat bar, David's face froze.

"Cough, cough, cough." The green tint on the ensign's face faded, and color returned to his skin, although the etched-away flesh did not regenerate.

ensign felt something surging up his throat. *Blech...* The beast milk gushed out of his throat like a bursting dam.

I'm still alive? The infection is gone?

Memories flooded back like a tide. The ensign looked at his hands in disbelief, and it took a long time for him to digest everything that had happened.

Clutching the empty bucket, David took a deep breath. If he had offended them, then so be it; it was bound to happen sooner or later anyway.

He was quite open-minded about it and clicked on the ensign's trade interface.

Villager (Blacksmith)

15 Coal → 1 emerald

11 emeralds (Original price 21) → Iron sword [Fire Aspect]

The price had dropped again. If he were fully converted into a zombie and then cured with a weakness potion and a golden apple, the price might be pushed even lower.

This thought flashed through David's mind.

Of course, he was only thinking about it. Firstly, golden apples were very expensive, and secondly, the person in front of him wasn't one of those villagers who only said "Hrrr~~~", but a living human being.

David crouched down and leaned close to the ensign's face.

Since his favorability had increased so much, those previous questions should be answerable now.

"What's your name?"

"Hans." He paused and looked at David, "My name is Hans."

David then asked about the time and location, learning that it was currently the end of the 41st Millennium and that he was on the Tylock Plains.

While answering David's questions, Hans crawled toward the nearby ruins, where a corpse that had long since lost its vital signs was buried.

Seeing the sadness on his face, David chose to give the soldier some time alone.

Passing by the pack beast, David refilled the milk.

The dull-eyed Otis shook its body twice, gave up its struggle, and let itself be milked.

After saving Hans, David trekked through the ruins looking for wood. He had used up all the Logs he got from the Bonus Chest.

Because of the spaceship explosion, the few trees in these ruins had been ignited and burned into Charcoal.

When he struck them with the stone axe, several pieces of [Charcoal] dropped.

Charcoal.

David rarely used this stuff in Minecraft.

After all, coal usually came in large clumps when mined, so there was no need to smelt Logs into Charcoal.

David cleared the tree remains, gathering the pieces of charcoal into his inventory.

A charred tree dropped about 4 charcoal, and soon his backpack had collected 24.

At the edge of the ruins, trees gradually became more numerous.

The trees of Cadia were shorter than imagined, with gnarled branches reaching toward the sky.

To get rich, punch trees first. David walked to the nearest tree, raised his stone axe, and began the work that should have been the first step.

With a few swings, the chopped trunk broke, turning into drops that merged into David's body.

Without support, the upper trunk sections did not fall according to gravity but remained suspended in mid-air.

He chopped down 8 trees in one go, collecting 64 [Logs] and 3 [Saplings].

After finishing the chopping, David put the stone axe back into his backpack, his gaze falling on the weeds by the trees.

The ground under the trees was hard-packed, with sparse grass stems crawling over it, perfect for getting Wheat Seeds.

David took out a bone from his backpack, broke it down into Bone Meal, pinched a bit, and sprinkled it on the nearest withered grass.

The withered, curled grass stems gained vitality and stood upright.

Not quite enough. David continued to sprinkle bonemeal, the second handful falling on the nearby hard, cracked soil.

Tender green sprouts broke through the soil, peeking out to form a patch.

David took out a water bucket and placed it on the ground.

Under the washing of the water, the weeds were destroyed, and a [Wheat Seed] dropped.

Mission accomplished. He picked up the water, and looking at the last pinch of Bone Meal left in his backpack, David thought it would just take up a slot, so he casually sprinkled it at his feet.

Green grass surged forth again, but this time with a splash of red—it was a poppy.

David's nose twitched, and he subconsciously took a deep breath.

The stench of Nurgle's creations went without saying; since coming here, his nose had suffered quite a bit.

David leaned toward the poppy to pick the flower, but he didn't expect something to beat him to it.

It was a gust of wind.

At first, it was just a breeze fluttering his clothes, but then the wind intensified, kicking up dust and ash from the ground.

The poppy was caught in the swirl, spinning as it flew toward the sky.

"Noooooooooo!"

David looked up, his gaze following the rapidly shrinking red dot, and his whole body shuddered.

He roughly understood where this sudden gale came from.

A shadow that blotted out the sun enveloped David as a magnificent giant ship swept over the ruins.
