Chapter 51 - The Gears Of fate Have Begun Turning...

"That blasted wench smells...off..."

Entering the inn, Vylara's pupils turned vertical, returning her the visage of a predator. Though sexy looking, Natsuki was unlucky enough to miss it, for once the shy Elf realised what had occurred, she quickly shielded her eyes, using all of her will to return her eyes back to normal...

Or as normal as she could

"Huh, what were you saying again...?"

Thwack!

"Ow! What was that for!?"

Rubbing his head, Natsuki turned his face towards the she-devil, confused at why she had the audacity to smack his poor noggin extra hard. "What? The fact that she was as warm as a freshly cooked curry rice, and did not torture a poor newbie all the time? Yeah, other than that, nothing comes to mind..."

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Vylara began pointing, first and foremost, at how weird it was for her to be so friendly when they first met. "Look, kid, nobody is fucking friendly and chummy the first second they meet with you. Being pointed at? That is the friendliest expression you should expect, NOT being lauded as her 'hero'..."

Only then did Natsuki realise where he was feeling this sense of incongruity. "But hey, it's my first time isekaing to another world. Cut me some slack, would ya? And plus, that's why the old goat had yoy sent with me, right? Relax, as someone who's one of the strongest beings on this planet, there should be nothing that can fuck you up, right...?"

Vylara couldn't help but begrudgingly agree on this point; having the world cap at Tier-5 really helped them do their mission, considering that the mech-pervert is a Tier-7 strongman and the old man an immeasurable being, Vylara could put it to the back of her mind, focusing on acclimatising the unfortunate newbie to his (equally unfortunate) new job.

But still, what worries me the most is how they knew we would be there, almost as if...

As if someone was trying to lead them to them

"Hey, Vy, let's go up. I heard that the old codgers have found something they want to discuss, and it seems pretty serious to me. I am not getting my arse kicked for being an extra minute late, so if you're gonna stay down, suit yourself~"

Keeping these thoughts in the back of her mind, Vylara nevertheless trudged over to the top, where the 'genius' duo are supposed to be, trying to figure out what went wrong with their stupid-ass scanner.

I just hope I'm just overthinking it, and nothing bad's going to happen...

Click...

Clack...

Crisp clocks could be heard across the marble floor, as a woman garbed in a pure white gown walked across the allowed ground of the Great Church of Erudia, hands clasped in solemn hymn. Standing beside her were the elite guards, garbed in their ceremonial holy steel armour, materialising out of thin air, each armed and ready to protect the Church in their dying breaths.

Ignoring the cold stares of the guardians, Celestina headed into the central hall, where a giant statue of a faceless being manifested itself, the holy sword Durandalibur in hand. Kneeling devoutly on her knees, Celestina prayed for a few minutes in silence before breaking out into uncontrollable sobbing.

"Oh Lord, the hero has returned..."

Blue light flashed from the blank face, before slightly bending its neck towards the devout believer...
