Chapter 55 - Ser Natsuki, Arise!

"So, it seems that you are the new chosen one..."

Sitting atop an ornate throne, a portly man sporting heavy cotton robes and a fedora, gazed down upon the kneeling Natsuki. Though the man sat upon the golden throne looked incompetent and decadent, Natsuki had no choice but to follow the fat man's whims, for they could not reveal anything about the BOR. Grinding the back of his molars as hard as he could, Natsuki lifted his face, keeping it as stoic as he possibly could. "Yes, your majesty, the great sword Durandalibur has indeed chosen me as the next hero..."

Snorting in displeasure, King Julianusus Kormageo Thrombowombo II continued gazing, displeased, at the young 'Outsider' who had suddenly barged in and claimed the Holy Sword all for himself (even though he was saving it for his dashing, good-for-nothing son of his...). Grumbling inwardly, Kormageo nevertheless begrudgingly decided to knight Natsuki as a Marquis, as dictated by their ancestral precepts (damn that nosy ancestors of theirs...).

"Arise, Lord Natsuki, and take it upon yourself this sacred duty, and complete the sacred duty of purging the heathen monster from Our beautiful realm!"

Though he didn't want to follow some fat fucks order, he knew he had no choice, for when in Rime, do as the Romans do...

"I accept this sacred duty, and with great weal and woe, I shall make it my life's mission to fulfill it!"

A dashing young man of 25, sizing to nearly 2 m and wielding teeth that could burn the sun, dashed through the royal court, face red with fury. "Your majesty, why have you made this heathen scum the hero!? This was supposed to be my destiny!"

Furious at his destiny being yanked from his reach, Crown Prince Charmingus Dickus began berating at his father, pissed beyond belief. Just when he was about to continue, he saw that his father, Kormageo, lift his his right fist, silencing the dissatisfied prince...

"My boy, think about the bigger picture:

Since time memorial, how many heroes do you think that we, the royal family Aesold, had sent to defeat the Shadow Monarch, hmm...?"

"Uh, many...?"

"And how many have succeeded my dear boy...?"

"Non– oh, I get what you're saying: he gets the kill, I get the glory!"

"Mhmmhmhmhm... seems that you have managed to splendidly inherit my great and noble bloodline! MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!"

If anyone came here at this moment, they would've been horrified shitless by the seen before them:

Gone was the gisage of a man, replaced by a twisted, distorted figure of a bipedal being, their face warped into noodles, eyes twisting, spinning like a blender, their body elongated into proportions disassociated with a human–

Along with dark shadowy tendrils drilling out of their body, distorting the surroundings into pinwheels, cracks forming in space

Walking through the dense forest, clanking sounds could be heard echoing throughout the forest:

A large army of shadow monsters were seen slowly trudging along, all in ordered formations– from bears to Arachnoids, from Drewlins to slimes, heck, even the ants were not spared!

And leading them all was a tall, hulking figure of a merman, chains pierced throughout it's entire body. Opening its mouth, it roared to the heavens, rage coursing through its veins. Every single creature stopped in its tracks, before continuing, faster than before...

Please...anyone...anybody...

PLEASE KILL ME!
