You know that feeling you get after waking up from a long and deep sleep, where when you wake up your mind is all dizzy and clouded. Well, that's how I would describe what happens after death, everything is clouded and I can't see, hear or feel anything but it's not uncomfortable so to speak.
But when the fog that clouded my mind started to clear, I slowly got my senses back. I could begin to think more complex thoughts once more and feel actual feelings.
"Ah your finally awake my boy" a calming voice says but it feels somewhat distant. "Seems you're still a bit foggy, let's clear that up"
There's a snapping sound, like that of two fingers click together and suddenly my mind is completely clear.
"What the fu-"
"Let's not use such awful language" the voice says this time much clearer than before. I quickly look around and manage to lay my eyes on what could only be described as a god.
It's twice the size of an average man, with golden hair; yes, actual golden hair, it has a well-defined face with handsome features I'd say. It's also wearing a simple robe like that of the people from Ancient Greece.
But the reason I believe the being in front of me is a god is because of the eyes, they not ordinary eyes with a pupil and some kind of colouring. No, these eyes contain universes that seem to be born and die within seconds of its creation. It's mystifying.
"Yes I'm what you could call a god" the being says smiling, "but please call me Fate"
"Okay Fate? What is going on? Why am I here? I thought that I...died?" I ask, not paying to much attention to my unnatural calmness.
"You have died. That is why I'm able to meet with you" Fate tells me, "I wish to offer you a chance of a second life"
I'm not ashamed to say but I immediately become suspicious of this God like being, no one does anything for free.
"Right, you are boy" Fate says, probably reading my mind or something. "It's not for free; you'll be given a task that you have to complete within your lifetime"
"But other than that, you'll be completely free to do as you wish. I'll also be giving you some boons to help you complete your mission if you decide to accept" Fate finishes.
Hearing Fate, I stand a little straighter and my mind becomes sharper. "What's this task of yours?"
"I'm sure your aware of the Multiverse theory?" I only nod in response. "Good, to keep it short and sweet, every story ever told exists within its own universe"
"Within each of these story's are key events that need to happen otherwise the whole universe goes out of control and begins to destroy itself" Fate explains, and I quickly get the picture.
"So you wish for me to enter one of these story's to make sure it's key points happen?" I question,
"Not quite, but you're on the right path. Just like how there's key points, there's key people who have certain destiny's that need to be fulfilled" Fate begins, "and if said person dies before their time and there's no one to replace them, the universe once again goes out of balance and begins to break down"
"Okay, I think I get it. What's my mission then?" I ask having a clearer understanding of what's going on.
"Are you aware of the Game of Thrones universe?"
"I am" I reply well aware of the GoT universe having been a fan until about season 6.
"Wonderful, one of the most important people in that universe has died before their time and I want replace their soul with yours"
"Whom shall I be replacing?"
"Aegon Targaryen" Fate says simply.
"You'll have to be a little clearer, there's like 20 Aegons in that universe" I point out.
"Aegon Targaryen, The Conquer and first King of Westeros" Fate clears up for me.
"Ah, I see" I respond taken aback briefly, "I suppose my mission is to conquer Westeros"
"Correct you are child" Fate says, "Now will you be accepting the mission?"
"What are my boons?" I ask before I make a final decision.
Fate nods at me, "That will be up to you"
"I accept the mission then"
"Wonderful" Fate says joyfully, "let's move onto your boons, I sense you have a few ideas"
Fate was of course correct, I did have a few ideas cooking up in my head. I won't lie I did take some inspiration from various fanfics I've read previously.
"Firstly, I want my own personal Dragon"
"Done" Fate says quickly.
"I wasn't finished" I point out.
"I'm aware. Don't worry, you'll get the Dragon you want" Fate reassures me.
I nod having Faith that Fate won't disappoint me, "Next I want Harry Potter style magic along with a mental library, so I don't have to discover everything on my own"
"Easy enough, you'll gain access to it at 11 years old and be given a simple wand. You'll eventually have to craft your one though," Fate tells me.
"That is really all I had in mind" I tell the God like being before me. "With the Dragon and Magic, I can basically do anything"
Fate smiles and nods at me, "Well you still have some left-over power for your boons, shall I just use it to increase your natural talents across the board"
I think over Fates suggestion for a brief moment before nodding, "Sounds good"
"Seems everything is in order, Off you go now" Fate says, and soon after I feel myself being flung backwards. Slowly picking up speed until everything becomes a blur and then
*Thud*
I land on something soft and cushiony. I inspect everything in my eyesight, taking in all the almost medieval like decorations in the room. I then notice I feel completely different, smaller and softer but not weaker in a sense.
I pull down a strand in my hair and see it's of a silvery-gold colour, which means only one thing.
I'm a Targaryen.
~End~
