The office was buzzing with a different kind of energy when Myra walked in. Instead of the cold judgment she expected, there was a flurry of hushed giggles and knowing glances. She kept her hand pressed against the collar of her blouse, her heart racing.
She sat at her desk, trying to disappear into her monitor, but Sarah was already there, leaning over her cubicle with a smirk that wasn't malicious for once—it was curious.
"Well, well," Sarah whispered, her eyes dancing. "The quiet ones are always the wildest, aren't they?"
Myra looked up, confused. "I don't know what you're talking about, Sarah."
Sarah reached out and playfully flicked Myra's collar. The red mark peeked out—dark, deep, and unmistakable. "Oh, please. The whole office saw the 'Doctor' at the restaurant last night. Then the storm hit, you vanished, and now you walk in here looking like you've been thoroughly... loved
A group of junior designers huddled closer. "Is it true, Myra? Is Dr. Rohan really that passionate? He looked so polite and gentle at dinner!"
Myra's face turned a shade of crimson that matched the mark. "I... he... it was a long night."
"We bet it was!" another girl chimed in. "To leave a mark like that through the concealer? He must be obsessed with you. It's so romantic! A handsome doctor who can't keep his hands off you even in a monsoon."
Myra felt a sickening knot in her stomach. They were praising Rohan for Reyansh's brutality. They were romanticizing a "punishment" as an act of love from a man who hadn't even touched her that way.
The laughter and chatter died down instantly as the heavy glass door of the executive suite swung open. Reyansh stepped out, his presence instantly chilling the room. He looked impeccable, but his eyes were sharp, scanning the bullpen until they landed on the group surrounding Myra.
He heard the tail end of the conversation.
"So, the Doctor has a wild side," Reyansh said, his voice a low, vibrating hum that made the hair on Myra's neck stand up. He walked toward them, stopping right behind Myra's chair.
The junior designers blushed and scattered, but Sarah stayed, grinning. "We were just admiring Myra's... souvenir from last night, Mr. Khurana. It seems Dr. Malhotra didn't want anyone to forget who she belongs to."
Reyansh's gaze dropped to the mark on Myra's neck. His jaw tightened so hard the bone seemed to bulge. He looked at the red brand he had carved into her skin with his own teeth, only to hear his office credit it to another man.
The irony was a bitter pill. He had marked her to claim her, but the lie she told was now protecting her—and it was driving him insane.
"Miss Kapoor's personal life is clearly the most interesting thing in this building," Reyansh said, his voice dripping with a sarcasm that felt like a blade. He leaned down, his mouth inches from Myra's ear, loud enough for only her to hear. "It's a shame the 'Doctor' isn't here to take the credit in person. I wonder how he'd feel knowing I'm the one who actually signed for the delivery."
He straightened up, his eyes turning to ice as he looked at Sarah. "Since you're so fascinated by 'passion,' Sarah, you can take over the night shift for the site inspections. Maybe the manual labor will distract you from your colleagues' bedrooms. As for you, Kapoor..."
He tapped the top of her desk with a heavy finger. "My office. Now. We have... blueprints to discuss."
As Myra stood up to follow him, the office cheered softly for her "romantic" night, unaware that she was walking straight into the lion's mouth.
