Chapter 278 - Chapter 278 Magneto Who Has Read Books

Magneto had no time to ask more as the Sentinel Robots in the distance were already closing in again.

Their mechanical eyes were locked dead on them, their heads began to charge energy, and red lights flickered in the darkness, making those grim silver faces look exceptionally terrifying.

"Watch out!"

Magneto immediately shouted a warning, subconsciously raising his hand to control the metal.

However, just as his arm was halfway up, the surrounding metal objects floated up on their own, as if pulled by an invisible hand, whistling through the air to smash the charging Sentinel Robots away, forcibly interrupting their attack.

Magneto: "?"

Am I already strong to this point now?

Even without activating a skill, the metal automatically protects its master?

But Magneto soon noticed something was off.

He could clearly sense that these metal objects were being controlled by another force, and it was a force he was all too familiar with.

Magneto followed the sensation and looked up, seeing a young man floating in mid-air, wearing a helmet and a streamlined high-tech battle suit, with a deep red cape snapping in the night wind.

In his hands, he was idly playing with two metal spheres, the silver orbs spinning rapidly in his palms. With a disdainful gaze, he looked down at the scene, exuding an air of extreme pretension. Where did this show-off come from?

Magneto felt his status as the King of Pretension was under threat.

But a second later, the more he looked, the more familiar the man became, his face filling with disbelief.

"You... You are..."

Erik descended from the sky and landed steadily in front of Magneto. He looked him up and down and said in a disgusted tone, "Tsk, I actually look like this when I'm old? All wrinkled up, like a dried-out apple."

Magneto: "..."

Was I this annoying when I was young?

Immediately after, a figure sitting in a wheelchair slowly appeared from the corner.

Even though the other person had long flowing hair, Magneto could still recognize their identity at a glance.

"Charles?"

Magneto blurted out, his voice filled with unconcealable shock.

Darian raised an eyebrow.

As expected of best friends; he didn't recognize his younger self, but he recognized the young Charles at a glance.

At the same time, several familiar figures appeared on the battlefield.

They were wearing uniform high-tech battle suits, each using their abilities to help the other Mutants fight against the Sentinel Robots.

With their help, the pressure on the Mutant side suddenly diminished.

"Hank, Darwin, and... Jean?"

Magneto's gaze swept across those familiar young faces, finally landing on the red-haired girl, his eyelids twitching involuntarily.

Simply because the shadow she had left on him was too great, even greater than that of the Sentinel Robots.

"What on earth is going on?"

Magneto felt like his brain couldn't quite process this.

These people had been dead for who knows how many years; how could they appear here alongside his younger self and a young Charles?

Storm and the others from the X-Men also looked like they had seen a ghost.

Only Bishop and the other outside Mutants were left in the dark.

Who was that show-off, and why were his abilities exactly the same as Magneto's?

Could it be that he is Magneto's... son?

Darian spoke up to explain, "It's a bit complicated. To put it simply, we've traveled from the past specifically to help you."

Just a short while ago, he had used the Fifty-Year Rocket Launcher to send the five people he had chosen to the future World one by one.

However, for the last slot, he didn't continue picking from within the Brotherhood, but chose the Red Devil from the Hellfire Club.

The Red Devil could perform Teleportation with no cooldown and could also conduct long-range group transfers. If they couldn't win, they could retreat at any time; it was a very practical skill that he had to bring along.

"Traveled from the past?"

Magneto was even more confused.

Setting aside how ridiculous traveling from the past to the future was, what was with this strange combination?

Members of the X-Men, the Brotherhood, and the Hellfire Club.

These factions, which usually fought whenever they met, were now gathered together.

Is this even logical?

"Oh no, their numbers are increasing!"

Bobby's voice came from not far away.

Everyone looked over to see dense crowds of Sentinel Robots swarming in from all directions, a sight that made one's skin crawl.

Although Magneto had initially used the jet to craft a small nuclear bomb and destroyed most of the Sentinel Robots in time, many still survived, numbering at least nearly a hundred.

Seeing the Sentinel Robots gradually surrounding them and their living space being constantly squeezed, the future Mutants felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Unlike them, Darian's eyes lit up instead.

"I was just worried I wouldn't get a chance to gather you all together."

With a wave of Darian's hand, countless sandbags fell out of thin air.

In the next moment, the bags burst open, and yellow sand spewed out, rapidly spreading in all directions. In the blink of an eye, it pooled into a sea of sand beneath everyone's feet.

"This is..."

Before the Mutants could react, the yellow sand surged violently upward.

Countless grains of sand gathered in the air, weaving into a massive sand arm. With fingers spread, it blotted out the sky and slammed down like a small mountain onto the Sentinel Robots below!

Boom!!!

The giant palm crashed down, the earth trembled, and dust flew everywhere.

Dozens of Sentinels were instantly flattened by this violent force, their silver bodies buried deep in the sand piles.

Seeing this scene, Magneto felt his status as the King of Pretension was threatened once again.

And this was only the beginning.

After the massive sand arm crashed down, the powerful impact sent waves through the sea of sand, sweeping frantically in all directions and swallowing the entire area in an instant.

One by one, the Sentinel Robots within range were caught in it. With no footing beneath them, they temporarily lost the ability to resist.

Meanwhile, the Mutants who were fighting the Sentinel Robots were not affected at all. The sand seemed to have eyes, deliberately avoiding them, so at most, they just got a mouthful of sand.

Mutants: "Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!"

At that moment, a huge vortex suddenly swirled in the center of the sand sea.

The dozens of Sentinel Robots originally scattered about were all forcibly gathered into the center by the sand waves.

They were squeezed together, struggling desperately in the sand. The scales on their bodies shifted rapidly as they tried to transform into suitable shapes to break free.

"Want to run? Too late!"

Without a word, Darian pulled out a strange device and threw it precisely into the vortex.

Hum—!

Accompanied by a low hum, a ripple of transparent waves, almost invisible to the naked eye, spread out from the center of the device, instantly sweeping across the entire area. All the Sentinel Robots in the area froze simultaneously.

The red light in their eyes went out in unison, the scales on their bodies stopped shifting, and they gradually returned to their original forms.

These killing machines, which had been so fierce just moments ago, lost power one by one and crashed into the sand, never to move again. [Item: emp bomb (Releases a powerful electromagnetic pulse that permanently disables all electronic devices within a 50-meter radius)]

No matter how powerful the Sentinel Robots were, they were ultimately machines.

As machines, they could not function without chips, circuits, and those delicate, fragile electronic components.

And the emp bomb was the nemesis of all electronic products.

All the Mutants were stunned, staring at Darian, speechless.

They struggled to deal with even one Sentinel Robot, yet this guy had taken out dozens in an instant.

Magneto couldn't help but ask, "What is that thing?"

Darian explained, "An emp bomb. It can destroy all electronic products."

"How many more weapons like that do you have?"

Magneto's eyes lit up. If they had enough of these weapons, the Sentinel Robots would no longer be a threat.

"Only one."

Darian shrugged.

The emp bomb was black technology and almost impossible to replicate; only game items had this kind of effect.

Hearing this, Magneto was immediately disappointed. "That's a real shame then."

However, that emp bomb hadn't cleared out all the Sentinel Robots. A few stragglers happened to be outside the range and narrowly escaped. Erik looked at the few approaching Sentinel Robots in the distance, a shark-like smile curling on his lips.

"Leave the rest to me."

Before his voice had even faded, he flicked his wrist, and two metal spheres shot out instantly.

The speed was ridiculously fast, impossible to track with the naked eye.

Bang!!

A massive impact sound exploded. The first two Sentinels didn't even have time to react before their silver heads were directly pierced through.

The terrifying kinetic energy sent their entire bodies flying backward, crashing heavily onto the ground.

But those two metal spheres didn't stop.

Under Erik's guidance, they traced two arcs in the air, cutting into the enemy group again from different angles.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Most of the Mutants couldn't even see what was happening; they only heard a series of dull explosions.

What followed were images of the Sentinel Robots being shattered upon impact.

Some Sentinel Robots tried to transform to defend themselves, but it was useless. The power of those two metal spheres was more terrifying than cannonballs, easily smashing through the Sentinel Robots' hard mechanical bodies.

Mechanical fragments mixed with electrical sparks flew everywhere.

Very quickly, the few Sentinel Robots turned into a pile of scrap metal.

Erik raised his hand, and the two metal spheres flew back into his palm, his expression one of calm mastery.

What a show-off!

Magneto's eyelids jumped. "This is..."

Erik grinned.

"Just a little application of magnetic force."

He was no longer the uncultured man of the past.

After more than a year of study, he had learned the preliminary applications of magnetic force.

Although his current abilities couldn't perform overly fancy maneuvers, even this basic application brought a terrifying level of improvement.

Let's see who dares call him King of Iron after this!

"Oh, so it's magnetic force."

Magneto nodded, appearing calm on the surface, but in truth, he didn't understand the mechanics at all.

He had spent his whole life either causing trouble or on the way to cause trouble.

Later, when the Sentinel Robots appeared, he was busy running for his life with Charles; where would he find the time to sit down and read?

Decisively skipping this topic that would expose his level of knowledge, Magneto stared at the metal spheres in Erik's hand.

"This metal shouldn't be simple either, right?"

"Of course, Adamantium, the hardest metal in the World."

Erik looked proud.

This was a gift from Darian. For a master of metal like him, it was practically a divine tool.

Not only that, Darian had also added several permanent enchantments to these two Adamantium spheres.

The strength of Adamantium was extremely high, allowing it to perfectly withstand the destruction brought by magic. However, the downside was that its shape could not be changed; if it were, the magic attached to it would automatically disappear.

Magneto narrowed his eyes.

"So it's Adamantium. Heh heh, no wonder. Can I have a look?"

"This is mine."

Erik's gaze was wary.

Knowing himself, he naturally knew exactly what the other was plotting.

Seeing Erik's defensive posture, Magneto had no choice but to temporarily give up the idea of making the metal spheres grow legs and run off on their own.

Forget it, I'll just wait for a chance to scrape some Adamantium out of future Logan's body.

Anyway, that guy is a man who can take things in stride; surely he won't mind such a small matter.

Magneto showed a kind smile.

"Don't worry, I won't steal your things. If you won't let me see, then so be it. But speaking of which, your helmet looks nice, very similar to my favorite old helmet. Can you lend it to me to wear?"

Erik: "..."

Am I this shameless when I get old?

At that moment, Magneto's body went limp, and he collapsed directly onto Erik.

His face was terrifyingly pale, clearly a sign of excessive blood loss.

Magneto had been heavily injured from the start. After a whole battle, the fact that his old bones could hold out until now meant his physical constitution was already quite impressive.

Darian looked at Magneto's health bar, which was nearly empty, and said to Erik, "His injuries are too severe; he must be treated immediately."

Erik nodded and pulled a life potion from his pocket, prying Magneto's mouth open to pour it down. This was an exclusive benefit for the veteran members of the Brotherhood—everyone had a bottle of life potion.

As the two giants of the Brotherhood, he and Charles had received three bottles each, and once used, they were gone.

But since Magneto was himself, he would naturally be the one to provide this life potion.

Not long after drinking the life potion, color returned to Magneto's face.

He looked down at the healed wound on his abdomen, his face full of surprise.

"What a miraculous potion."

Erik said with heartache, "Of course, this is a life potion. As long as the body isn't too badly damaged and there's still a breath left, it can bring someone back to life. I only have three bottles of this kind of potion."

Magneto's expression was complex.

"Are you really our past?"

He was certain he had never heard of any life potion.

Charles took over the conversation, "We aren't entirely sure either. Your Logan traveled to our timeline, and he also spoke of things that happened in your past. To be honest, there are indeed some slight deviations from our experiences."

Magneto looked at Erik, then at Charles.

These two were together without any estrangement, completely different from the situation in his memory where they had parted ways and never spoke again.

A thought suddenly popped into his head: "Could it be that in your timeline, I joined the X-Men?"

Charles smiled slightly. "Oh no, it's that I joined the Brotherhood."

Magneto: "???"
