Chapter 1 - Awakening of the Inverse Sky

A Eighteen year old boy was walking casually through the modern streets of the Shinto Town of Fuyuki City. He had one of his hands in the pockets of his black hoodie, while his other hand was holding a plastic bag full of groceries.

His gaze was causally roaming over the crowd from different walks of life, each going for their own duties as he stopped at a crossing.

Vehicles overtook each other in front of the crossing, while his gaze was lost in his surroundings.

He was Ryan Reynolds, a third year transfer student of the Homurahara Academy in Fuyuki from overseas.

Ryan hummed a casual tune as the signal light ahead of him turned green for pedestrians, he moved his legs with practiced ease as cars stopped before the crossing, waiting for their own signal light to turn green.

While Ryan passed through the crossing with casual ease, a sudden horn blared as a truck barrelled through the stopped cars with the speed of a fright train.

He almost lost his balance at that horn and was spooked as the truck barrelled straight towards him.

Ryan ran for dear life and got away from the truck at the last moment.

"Are you crazy, man? Who gave you your driving licence?" Ryan asked in indignation and lingering fear while glancing at the truck which didn't stop even after almost crushing him.

Ryan wanted to curse the truck driver but did not get the chance, his face was turned towards the truck, hence he did not see the metallic corner sign fixed on the signal pole straight where he was heading.

BAM!

His head collided against the corner sign with a bam, Ryan was directly put out of commission from the crash.

'Shit! I saved myself from a truck, but got done in by a sign board.' Ryan thought as his consciousness left him.

__________ Later Afternoon ____________

Ryan awoke to the smell of antiseptic and medicine, his back on a soft and white mattress, ringing of an ECG machine rang in his ears.

He held his head, now wrapped in a huge patch of bandages and felt a huge migraine hit his crown.

Scenes from another time, another life, of another world flashed across his mind as the migraine intensified, his head feeling like someone had opened it, put some lava inside and mixed it up for a good minute before closing it back with a bang.

'21 Years old....college....single child....anime....novels and Fuyuki City....'

'Wait what!? Fuyuki City? Fate? Ahoge King?'

Ryan held tighter onto his head as memories from his past life awakened from deep inside him, about Type-Moon, Ultimate Ones and Grand Order.

He really wanted to scream to whoever had sent him here, could they not have send him somewhere more tame like *Danmachi* or *Fairy Tail*?

There were four universes he really never wanted to set his foot in if he had the choice.

*Marvel*, *DC*, *Warhammer 40K* and *Fate*

These were the kinds of universe where one moment you're drinking tea with friends, the next moment, the world is already in ashes because some big bad decided it was time to implement their million years of planning into action.

It was November of 2003 going on right now, the Fifth Holy Grail war was about to start in two months, The Einzbern's had probably already summoned the Berserker, Hercules.

Ryan really felt a major headache coming on. In two months, Fuyuki City was about to become a warzone for Mad Magi and bloodthirsty Heroic Spirits from legends, with a certain Fake Priest and Mongrel King stalking everyone from the shadows.

'Should I pack everything up and dip?'

The scales inside Ryan tilted towards just packing everything up to dip, giving a giant middle finger to the Holy Grail War, Mad Magi, Heroic Spirits and the whole of Fuyuki.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of his medical ward door opening with a gentle push.

An old doctor in his 40s walked inside the ward, 'Dr. Kiyoshi' embroidered on the left chest of his coat.

"Ryan Reynolds, I presume?" Dr. Kiyoshi spoke with professional poise while pulling a stool to sit besides his laid form.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Kiyoshi. I'm Ryan Reynolds." Ryan spoke with basic curtsey while greeting the doctor.

"We had to check your head for concussions when you were bought in bleeding." Dr. Kiyoshi started with summarising his injury and continued.

"We could not start to operate on your minor concussion without verifying your identity, so we had to go through your wallet for your identity. I hope you don't take any offence at our arbitrary actions Mr. Reynolds." Dr. Kiyoshi finished his words with practiced professionalism.

"Not at all Dr. Kiyoshi. My injury obviously takes more priority than my privacy. I don't blame you for your actions." Ryan seriously did not take any offense at their actions, at least it was better than letting him keep bleeding from the head.

"The concussion you had was minor, The impact area was around your left cerebral Hemisphere, which made you faint, though you should get back to normal by a day." Dr. Kiyoshi explained while pulling a new page from the drawer near them and started scribbling on it.

"Here, have these two medicines for three days, one in the morning and one at night," Dr. Kiyoshi scribbled some gibberish on the page and showed it to Ryan while explaining the method to take the prescribed medicines.

"Is there anything else Dr. Kiyoshi?" Ryan asked after remembering his words while trying unsuccessfully to understand his handwriting.

"Would you like to settle the treatment bills right now? or when you get discharged in a day or two?" Dr. Kiyoshi asked without a change in his expression, though he was probably beaming inwardly at a new incoming pay check.

The Fuyuki Hospital he worked in seldom had patients, because most people in Fuyuki were healthy and made it work with some staple and cheap medicines.

"I'll pay at the day of discharge, Dr. Kiyoshi." Ryan spoke causally while internally cursing the truck driver and the sign board ten times over. He was already running low on funds and now would probably have to make do with instant noodles.

"Very Well Ryan, a good day to you." The small smile at the corner of Dr. Kiyoshi's face was wiped off as he excused himself.

Ryan was left alone in his thoughts, wondering about *Fate* and all the incoming bullshit his way.

_________ A Day Later _____________

Ryan walked out of the hospital after calling his school, informing them about his absence today at classes.

He had already paid the bills, Dr. Kiyoshi was happy, The hospital staff were happy, and even the medicine shop owner was happy.

Hence, a world was born where only Reynolds was hurt.

'Now, shall we skedaddle out of this warzone?'
