Kael smiled with unease, his gaze fixed on a point somewhere past Voren's shoulder. Discussing this with his Alpha while so many pressing matters demanded their attention felt almost frivolous.
But his Alpha had brought it up, and Kael could not refuse. Also, he was moved that his Alpha cared about his love life.
"Alpha Voren, I'll be honest." He took a steadying breath. "I don't want to pursue Jasmine anymore."
Voren's expression remained indifferent, carefully neutral. But inwardly, he was disturbed. Jasmine was so desperate to be loved, so hungry for affection that she had thrown herself at every man who showed her even a sliver of kindness.
Voren had wanted her paired before she allowed her obsession to consume her completely. Also, he didn't want her mated out of the Grimroot pack because Jasmine knew too much Voren's personal life.
