Outside the Rainbow Game Center, Officer Jenny led the police as they completely surrounded the area. Yellow cordon tape was set up everywhere, and no one was allowed to enter or leave.
Finally… finally, it was over.
Sam, who had just rushed out of the building with Erika in his arms, felt as if his limbs were about to fall apart. He took several deep breaths, grounding himself in the simple relief of being alive.
"What's going on with Officer Jenny?" one of the policemen asked quietly, glancing at Sam and Erika.
Officer Jenny shot him a cold look.
"Is that something you should be worrying about? Get back to work. If Team Rocket escapes, can you take responsibility for it?"
"Yes, Officer Jenny!"
The officers immediately scattered, no one daring to ask another question.
"Sam… please put me down," Erika said softly.
Being carried in public, surrounded by so many people, made her cheeks burn.
"Oh—oh! Right."
Sam finally reacted and carefully set her down.
For a moment, the two of them stood there in awkward silence.
Then—
BOOM!!!
The Rainbow Game Center finally gave in to the violent battle on its top floor and collapsed completely.
Huge chunks of concrete were hurled outward.
"Scyther, Slash!"
Sam summoned Scyther without hesitation.
With a sharp screech, Scyther's twin blades flashed. Massive boulders were sliced apart as easily as tofu, shattering into fragments before they could reach Sam.
But almost no one noticed.
All eyes were fixed on the two colossal Pokémon facing each other amid the ruins.
Including Sam and Erika.
---
Tyranitar and Nidoking showed no serious injuries despite falling from such a height. Pokémon at their level possessed defense far beyond ordinary understanding.
Tyranitar rolled its shoulders, a low, pleased rumble escaping its throat. After waking from its long slumber, it had not yet fully adapted to its newfound power. The battle above had been nothing more than a warm-up.
Now, it was time for the real fight.
Nidoking, in contrast, was far less composed. Blood trickled down its forehead, likely from the earlier clash. Its eyes burned with ferocity—it had already abandoned any thought of retreat.
It had lost the advantage upstairs.
If it wanted to win, it would have to fight with everything it had.
"Nido—!!"
The roar echoed like thunder.
Officer Jenny and the surrounding police officers instinctively tensed. This was the first time they had ever witnessed a Nidoking of such terrifying strength.
Nidoking lowered its head, the massive horn on its forehead aimed straight at Tyranitar as it charged forward.
Megahorn!
Emerald-green energy gathered along its horn, Bug-type power surging violently.
Tyranitar did not retreat.
Instead, it moved.
The ground shook as the two massive bodies closed the distance.
At the last instant, Tyranitar twisted aside.
Nidoking's Megahorn missed.
Caught off balance, Nidoking stumbled, nearly crashing to the ground.
Tyranitar seized the opening.
It spun around and drove a heavy punch straight into Nidoking's face.
There was no fancy technique—only overwhelming strength.
Nidoking was sent crashing to the ground.
"Nidoking!!!"
Despite its injuries, Nidoking forced itself back onto its feet almost instantly. Abandoning all techniques, it lunged forward again, choosing raw physical combat.
Its endurance was impressive.
But today, it stood before a monster.
Blow after blow landed. Nidoking could no longer keep up.
The onlookers were stunned. None of them had ever witnessed such a brutal, close-range clash between Pokémon.
At last, Nidoking collapsed. Its vision blurred, consciousness wavering, yet it still refused to fall unconscious. It glared at Tyranitar, teeth clenched.
You may break my body—but you will not break my will.
That gaze irritated Tyranitar.
With another strike, Nidoking was slammed back into the rubble. This time, Tyranitar stepped forward and planted its foot firmly on Nidoking's face, pinning it to the ground.
"Ban."
Give up. I'll spare you.
Nidoking answered with violent struggle.
Tyranitar's expression darkened. It pressed down harder, as if intending to crush Nidoking completely.
Blood spilled from Nidoking's mouth. Its body trembled, yet its eyes still burned with defiance.
"Tyranitar."
Sam's voice cut through the battlefield.
He said nothing else—only looked at Tyranitar calmly.
Tyranitar froze.
In an instant, it realized its mistake. The sudden surge in power had affected its temperament. This was not how it would have acted before.
It withdrew its foot and stepped back.
Then it waited.
Waiting for Nidoking to stand.
"Nido…"
The sound was barely audible.
Bleeding and broken, Nidoking still forced itself upright. Step by step, it staggered forward and gathered the last of its strength into a single punch.
Boom!
Tyranitar did not dodge.
The blow landed cleanly.
"Ban."
What a duel.
Tyranitar raised its fist—
—and brought the battle between warriors to its final end.
