Chapter 50 - Chapter Forty-Nine: Sacrifice and Suffering

Echoes of Sacrifice and Eternal Darkness:

The battle that would change the course of history began; Lumière Rose, the prodigy, faced the monster known as the Bone Grinder, Vargore. The monster's techniques were terrifying; from his nerve-paralyzing "poisonous tongue" to his mind-numbing "serpentine gaze of terror," Vargore toyed with Lumière. Even Lilith, watching from afar, said contemptuously, "You're not even worthy of facing me. I'm certain now... you're not the boy of prophecy we've been waiting for."

After Lilith left, Lumière sensed the imminent danger; if this Class A monster survived, he would wipe the surrounding villages off the face of the earth. In a split second, Lumière used the last of his magic and cauterization to blast the cavern from within. The mountain collapsed, burying the monster under tons of rock, but Lumière had paid the price; his shattered body breathed its last under the rubble.

As darkness engulfed his vision, a mysterious voice echoed in his mind: "Lumière Rose... let's make a deal."

It was none other than the legendary demon Abaddon, accompanied by a boy two years his senior, Sebastian Clarke. "Wonder boy," Sebastian asked coldly, "what do you say?"

Lumière stared into the void, thinking only of the safety of Emilia, whom he had saved from this hell. "Since Emilia is no longer in danger," he said in a low voice, "I no longer care what happens to me. I agree."

At that moment, Abaddon's black essence surged forth, engulfing Lumière's body, and the three of them—Abaddon, Sebastian, and Lumière—vanished as if they had never existed.

Time returned to the present, and Emilia regained consciousness, but she was consumed by unbearable regret and anguish. Suddenly, her demonic power began to overflow and spiral out of control, marking the beginning of the "Battle of Madness."
