Chapter 18 - Tyrunt Evolves — Hatenna Joins the Team

Holding the Dragon Fang in his hand and listening to the system notification, Ethan felt his head go slightly numb.

This was ridiculous.

He had searched the forest all morning and found nothing.

Yet Tyrunt and Hatenna went out for a casual stroll… and came back with a Dragon Fang?

That was just unfair.

Dragon Fang was a Dragon-type rare treasure.

When carried by a Dragon-type Pokémon, it could continuously nourish their body with dragon energy—

slowly increasing their overall strength while also boosting the power of Dragon-type moves.

Its short-term effect wasn't as explosive as something like a Dragon Gem,

but in terms of long-term value, Dragon Fang was on an entirely different level.

And this wasn't just any Dragon Fang.

This item alone was worth over a hundred million,

and even then, it was the kind of thing you couldn't buy even if you had the money.

[Ding! Congratulations, host — fivefold amplification achieved]

[Ding! You have obtained: Purple Opportunity · Premium Dragon Fang]

The moment the system finished speaking, Ethan felt a subtle change in the Dragon Fang in his hand.

At the same time, Tyrunt's eyes locked onto it.

Completely.

Unblinkingly.

It was obvious—

the energy radiating from the Dragon Fang made Tyrunt desperately want to eat it.

And honestly, that reaction was perfectly normal.

A regular Dragon Fang could only be held, not consumed.

A Pokémon would slowly benefit from it over time.

But after being enhanced into a Premium Dragon Fang,

it gained a new function—

👉 It could be directly absorbed.

If Tyrunt hadn't sensed that, there was no way he'd be this obsessed with it.

Ethan chuckled.

"Tyrunt, you want to eat it?"

"Tyra~!"

Tyrunt nodded seriously.

"Well then—catch."

Ethan tossed the Dragon Fang.

Tyrunt snapped his jaws shut mid-air.

Crunch. Crunch.

The Dragon Fang shattered like ice and was swallowed in seconds.

[Your Tyrunt has absorbed the Premium Dragon Fang]

[Level increasing… Lv.18 → Lv.19 → Lv.43]

[Tyrunt has met the evolution conditions]

[Evolution beginning]

A brilliant light erupted from Tyrunt's body.

"That's… an evolution glow," Ethan said calmly.

Beside him, Geng Zhi let out a shocked gasp.

Inside the restaurant, customers and even the owner, Guli, turned to look in disbelief.

Pokémon evolution was rare.

For most Trainers, successfully evolving even one Pokémon was already impressive.

Yet right now—

an evolution was happening right in front of their eyes.

Under the radiance of the light, Tyrunt's body rapidly expanded.

Moments later, the glow faded.

Standing there was a towering, fearsome figure—

A Tyrantrum, over three meters tall, radiating the pressure of an ancient king.

[Pokémon: Tyrantrum]

[Level: 43 (Early Commander Tier)]

[Type: Rock / Dragon]

[Ability: Rock Head]

[Moves: Ancient Power, Rock Polish, Poison Fang, Rock Slide, Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, Scale Shot, Dragon Tail, Breaking Swipe, Outrage, Head Smash]

[Potential: Totem]

[Treasures: Premium Dragon Fang, Premium Sand Scale Berry]

The instant Tyrantrum appeared, everyone except Ethan instinctively stepped back.

It wasn't just the size.

It was the overwhelming presence—

the savage aura, the raw power leaking from his body.

"W-What Pokémon is that?"

"Is that really his?"

"He looks like a freshman—how does he have something like that already?!"

Fear, shock, curiosity—

Phones came out. Photos were taken.

At the same time, Ethan's name was already beginning to circulate on the Donghuang Academy forums.

But Ethan himself paid none of that any mind.

He looked up at Tyrantrum and smiled.

"Congratulations on evolving, Tyrantrum."

"How do you feel? Any discomfort?"

Despite his tyrannical appearance, Tyrantrum squinted his eyes slightly.

"Rruah~"

A soft, almost childish sound.

Ethan finally relaxed.

Seeing more and more people gathering, he decided not to draw unnecessary attention.

If Tyrantrum's aura attracted powerful wild Pokémon—or worse, the academy's security teams—that would be trouble.

"Alright, come back for now."

Tyrantrum nodded and returned to his Poké Ball.

With Tyrantrum gone, the Hatenna that had been sitting on his head tumbled downward.

Ethan caught her just in time.

"You okay, Hatenna?"

"Hate…"

She nodded, unharmed—but Ethan could see the hint of sadness in her eyes.

She knew it meant she wouldn't be able to play with Tyrantrum anymore.

Ethan smiled gently.

"You like being with Tyrantrum that much?"

"Hate?"

Hatenna looked up at him, confused.

Ethan took out the academy-issued Poké Ball.

"If you don't mind… would you like to come with me?"

"If you do, you can see Tyrantrum every day. You can play together whenever you want."

Hatenna froze.

"Hate… hate?!"

Ethan nodded seriously.

"I promise. I don't lie."

"And if you're unsure—why not listen to what Tyrantrum thinks?"

He placed Tyrantrum's Poké Ball beside her.

Through the faint emotional resonance, Hatenna sensed Tyrantrum's agreement.

Her eyes lit up.

"Hate~!"

She gently tapped the Poké Ball with her ear.

In the next instant, Hatenna transformed into light and entered the ball on her own.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host]
