Chapter 3 - 3: Law

Waiting to get paid, I watch my wife on the screen, she's never looked so good, so professional. The assembly rises up, takes a respectful bow and sits back down. Gloria presents herself and mentions an article of the Constitution of Cressene, stating that any passing of a bill within twenty-four hourS of a murder results in a mandatory review of the proposed idea. Meaning no one can just brush it off their shoulder.

She then proceeds to explain: weapon traffickers should be dealth with accordingly, be found and be exterminated to protect the local populations.

"There are human beings within our borders who lack proper care after escaping dictatorship and starvation. Providing for these refugees the same way we would be provided for on a monday is essential. I suggest we take seriously their recommendations on actual, legitimate political extremism instead of imagining what these insane guidelines are. Secondly, there are four main traffickers. Mateni Tarima, Basil Morgan, Raven Perma and Genova. These young persons have become entities, some have become legends. They are impossible to catch per se, but they can be killed for they are human in nature. We will not remain passive to their illegal overseas activities. We need to deploy military in strategic spots to overthrow their personal empires."

She was met with laughters, as she previously expected.

Now it was time. Gloria, from her back and strapped to her belt, unseathes a colt and shoots upwards to the ceiling. A few screams silence the arena as she continues, in a deadly silence.

"As I was saying. Hard times require tough decisions. If you don't send armed men you will send an armed woman. Whether you like it or not. I suggest you make the right choice. Tomorrow, four in the morning. Thank you."

Well, what a crazy lady, I tell myself. Glad I'm on her side. I need to concentrate. Mateni is on the tropical islands, hiding. Imposing his own law by providing weapon and drugs. Back then he would assume a position that is relatively close to that of a vice-president. He would act as a spokesman of leaders. Said-leader would have been Genova, but today that's like trying to find a cryptide in your bed. He wants the attention and the burden that comes with a high position of power but without the actual weight of it all. That makes me think he's not after anything in particular, he's receiving orders. Realistically, Basil Morgan would be the man I'm really after, but something about him was always off and strange. Perhaps the people fated to this life grow up degenerated in some way. His very nature is telling me to stay home and live here happy and forget about all this. But I can't.

When Gloria comes back, I'll have to make her digest all of that. We have to go as soon as possible. Due to her recent speech at the assembly, he's surely expecting a visit.

In the independant country of Renegald, a man was shouting to a population of different ethnicities, voices of the power.

"All of you have the means of destruction in your hands. To make you strong and give you the power of the supreme! We reign not as a society but as a group liberated from evil! The enemies will come tomorrow, welcome them as the wraiths of the ruins of an ancient and evil political structure! They! Want Us! Dead!
