Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Court of the Unjust

150 Years Later

Calendar Date: 21st day of the month of Crimsonvelt, 150 STD

Since that day, Alderville hasn't been the same, albeit for the better. Alderville has thrived with the newfound land, and so have the lands of Odaya and Hermbire, respectively. The newly founded peace and prosperity given to the three races has become a driving point to the effort to keep a safe and prosperous land within the barrier of protection Daemon had promised within the pact. The elves continue their discoveries of uncanny possibilities with technology, but they'd also have to share their research and innovations with the demons, and the dwarves are at peace, being the anchors of strength whenever the demons need them. The humans, however, became a lot more adventurous. They scoured a bit beyond the given barrier, the barrier promised within the pact to gather mystical resources; mana crystals, among others. Mana crystals possessed powers not known to mankind, powers people dreamt of using. They were the main power source for Alderville and the rest of the three kingdoms.

"Ack-"

The courtroom was cold. Regal. It was a place where many had been judged. Some innocent, some...

Inside lay an audience of many. Chitchatter can be heard throughout the room as the king begins his speech.

"Kier Realmheart, general-former general of Squad 5 of the Alderian Knights. You have been charged with the murder of all those under your responsibility while disobeying orders to retreat in enemy territory. How do you plead?"

The courtroom, filled with muttering and whispers just a few moments ago, fell silent. Eerily silent. King Julius V stood above the accused. Besides, a judge and the leader of the Alderian Knights, Lance Theiro.

"gulp, Not guilty."

The crowd was stunned. Silence bore against the walls once again, tension flowing through the swift gust of wind.

The king's eyebrows perked up, "Hm, interesting. Admitting your guil-"

"You've become too content. You've become too comfortable since our first king made the pact. You've sat lazily on your ass, while others go beyond the barrier to conduct research that goes to them! What're you wasting people's lives for? So you royals can have the freedom to live in your so-called peace!? Have you thought of fighting back? Have you wondered what it'd be like to not be in their deb-"

"Silence,Kier."

Lance raised his voice. His tone was as cold as ever.

"Sure. You've made your point. But that doesn't mean it wasn't your fault that your subordinates died. And that you refused to follow orders to retreat. Might I add more?"

Kier looked at Lance in desperation and anger.

"It's what they wanted. It's what we wanted. You sent us on that mission. You wanted us to die! The people of Alderville know this "peace" won't last forever. Everyone does. The demons will break this "pact," and then what? What peace do we have?"

"I don't recall sending Squad 5 on a mission that far beyond the barrier. What mission are you speaking of? I don't recall. The peace will last. I'm sure of it. Instead of an execution, exile the fiend beyond the barrier! I want him gone at once!"

Lance swiftly moved down and apprehended Kier by the neck, the chokecollar tightening as he took him to the barrier. Once at the barrier, Lance saw a pit of monsters of all sorts; hordes. Waiting for the time Lance would drop Kier.

"*struggling* You don't understand what you're doing..You-"

"You're a disgrace to humanity, Kier. You were a waste of talent. So talented yet so...shameful. You've brought a great distrust to the Alderian Knights. Go to hell."

Suddenly, Kier caught a desperate breath of air in his lungs as the dark abyss tugged on his frame. The shackles felt lighter, and the choker didn't feel as restricting. The piercing glances of countless hungry beings mawed at him as he fell, the stench of rot and sulphur perpetuated for countless miles.
