Chapter 332 - The Gap Between Mortal and Myth

"…Where is this?"

Kobayashi peeled her eyes open, immediately wincing as the harsh morning sunlight pierced through the thin curtains of her cramped apartment. A massive hangover pounded against her skull, but as someone who routinely drank to wash away the crushing depression of corporate life, she quickly pushed through the pain.

She reached out, her bare skin brushing against the tangled bedsheets, and grabbed a glass of water from her nightstand to soothe her parched throat. As she slipped her glasses onto her face, a warm, fuzzy sense of peace washed over her. She wasn't alone anymore. Suzuki was going to be living with her.

Despite how weird and sudden their relationship had become, knowing she had someone to come home to felt incredible. A hot, lingering tingle sparked between her thighs just thinking about their wild sex last night. Her body felt wonderfully sore, her skin sensitive and flushed. It felt like they had gone at it until they were both on the verge of death.

Smiling softly, she turned over. "Good morning—"

Her voice caught in her throat.

"…Suzuki?! What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Kobayashi shrieked, scrambling backward against the headboard. The man lying beside her didn't just look tired; he looked completely drained. His skin was pale, his cheeks sunken, and he lay curled on his side like a shriveled husk. He looked like a virile, healthy bull that had been starved for a month. The air around him smelled of heavy sweat and the distinct, musky scent of absolute physical exhaustion.

"…Are you awake?"

Suzuki peeled his eyes open halfway. His voice was incredibly weak, completely devoid of its usual steady energy. His eyelids felt like they were made of lead.

"What happened?! Are you sick? Do I need to call an ambulance?!" Kobayashi panicked, her hands hovering over his frail-looking body. She had never imagined a man could physically wither like this in a single night.

"No... I'm fine..." Suzuki groaned, his throat dry and raspy. "I'm just exhausted... I just need to sleep..."

It was the absolute truth. Right now, Suzuki just wanted to fall into a coma.

As his exhausted mind drifted, a harsh reality settled over him: the mortal body has a hard limit. Through his multidimensional connection to the other Suzukis, he had reached the absolute peak of human potential. He had the combat sense, the raw strength, and the technique. Yet, even with all of that, he realized just how foolish it was to challenge a dragon in bed.

If I just stuck to human women, life would be so easy…

Whether it was a human or a dragon, both were beautiful. Both had incredibly tight, warm, and welcoming depths. But unlike a dragon—a mythical creature practically defined by its insatiable appetite and endless stamina—a human woman was entirely manageable. He could easily satisfy any normal woman he wanted, maybe even that beautiful housewife next door.

But Tohru? Tohru was the daughter of the Chaos Dragon leader. If he kept trying to hold his ground against her every night, his dick wouldn't just fall off—his actual soul would be sucked out of his body.

Last night had technically ended in a draw. He had miraculously managed to push Tohru to the edge, making her climax and leaving her in a blissful, panting daze. But the cost was immense. The sheer, crushing tightness of her internal muscles and the boiling heat of her body had drawn out every single drop of his energy. If he tried to repeat that performance tonight, he would literally die.

Is it arrogant for a mortal to challenge a higher being?

Suzuki couldn't help but analyze his situation. The power-scaling in this world was unforgiving. Just because his alternate selves had become powerhouses in their respective universes didn't mean his current, flesh-and-blood human body could handle the strain.

There was only one way forward. I have to evolve.

He thought of the Tensura universe. Evolving by using the DxD system—like Finn did by killing—was out of the question here. There were no natural enemies to slaughter in this peaceful world, and going on a murder spree would completely ruin his life.

No, he needed to trigger an evolutionary leap directly, just like the Tensura Suzuki did when he became an Enlightened. He needed to bridge the gap between mortal and myth before Tohru wanted a second round.

[Affirmative. It is possible for the host to evolve into a Sage.]

The mechanical voice of his Manager skill echoed in his mind.

If it's possible, then why didn't I evolve last night?! Suzuki thought bitterly. If I evolved, would I still be at her mercy?

[Even if the host evolves into a Sage, the base statistics of a human pale in comparison to a Chaos Dragon.]

Then... wait... A horrific realization struck Suzuki. Did she hold back against me last night?

[Affirmative.]

"....."

What a massive blow to my pride!

Suzuki had thought he was unstoppable after unlocking his abilities. He had grown arrogant. As a man, he wanted to absolutely dominate his woman, leaving her completely satisfied and conquered beneath him. But the truth was, Tohru had gone easy on him just to protect his fragile human ego.

Yes, she had been highly satisfied. He had the skill and just enough durability to make her cum. But just to achieve that "draw," he had been milked completely dry, his life force hovering on the edge of the abyss.

If he could reach the next stage—evolving into a Saint or a Divine Human like the peak of the human evolutionary tree in Tensura—he might actually be able to go head-to-head with her without dying. But even his Tensura counterpart hadn't reached the Saint tier yet. How the hell was he supposed to do it in a modern world devoid of abundant magical energy? He needed mana, and unless he found a way to siphon it from myths and legends hidden on Earth, his body would remain capped.

"Here, drink this."

"Thank you."

Suzuki weakly lifted his head, accepting the cold glass of water from Kobayashi. The cool liquid washing down his throat was absolute bliss. He sighed in deep contentment and let his heavy head fall back against the pillows.

"I'm going to head to work first. Just stay in bed and rest. I'll come back as soon as possible," Kobayashi said, already dressed in her crisp office uniform.

"Thank you, Senpai."

"No problem."

As she fixed her tie, Kobayashi couldn't help but feel a sudden surge of smug pride. Did I tap into some hidden, degenerate power when I got drunk? I completely sucked him dry!

"Hmm... but I wonder why I had that crazy dream about a dragon?" she muttered to herself, grabbing her briefcase.

While she headed for the front door, Suzuki closed his eyes. He needed to figure out a cultivation method, perhaps tapping into Eastern myths, to absorb enough energy to survive his new, highly demanding sex life.

Just as he was about to slip into a deep, restorative sleep, the heavy thud-thud-thud of frantic footsteps echoed from the hallway.

The front door suddenly flew open with a loud BANG.

Kobayashi stumbled backward into the apartment, her face entirely drained of color, pointing a trembling finger toward the hallway.

"S-Suzuki!" she shrieked. "T-There is a literal dragon at the door!"

"..." Suzuki just pulled the blankets over his head.
