Chapter 30 - That’s All

"Is that all?"

House looked at Cameron and said, "Yes, unless you want to dig further into that couple's personal life."

"It was very fast, will we have the day off?"

House nodded in agreement.

The patient was quickly transferred to the operating room. Almost immediately after the FAB fragment was injected, the patient's heart began beating at a normal rhythm again, and his blood pressure returned to normal.

After giving instructions about postoperative medication, House was much more relaxed, although in a way annoyed because this had not turned out to be something much more complex to solve.

It was then that Elion heard the message that extended his life just as he had hoped.

"[Congratulations, you have significantly influenced another person's life, and they are now out of the clutches of death.]"

[Reward]: Five days and twenty hours.

[Remaining lifespan]: Thirty-six days and five hours.

After receiving that dose of life, Elion looked with envy at the couples around him and wondered if perhaps there would be a special person waiting for him further ahead.

Seeing Brandon in the hospital bed formally announce to his parents that he was going to marry his girlfriend. Even if he made a mistake by taking the wrong medicine, he still has hope: he has the opportunity to be happy with his girlfriend.

But for Elion, that is not an option.

With a soft sigh, Elion shook his head and left the room.

Cameron noticed Elion's disappointment and asked him with a hint of teasing, "What? Do you envy them?"

"Of course. Don't you envy the life of being healthy and with the person you love?" Elion asked something rather unusual, while at the same time being sincere for the first time in his new life.

Cameron shook her head. "If two people are together, it's likely that most of them will remain loyal until they decide otherwise."

Until death do them part, as Cameron says; most are loyal until they decide otherwise, as Elion thinks, someone who had never had a partner before.

But since his time in a frail state, he was aware that love had nothing to do with what people see in movies.

Love was like fuel; it ran out little by little, and it was up to oneself to keep that flame alive. Loyalty, what one sought in life, was extremely important so that the relationship would not be a waste.

Elion would look for an opportunity to find someone with whom he could build a life together, someone who could understand him, and of course, he would do the same in return.

"It was a difficult case." Elion was not arrogant; he knew that this streak he was on would end quickly if he distanced himself from this environment.

"Good job, as always." Cameron believed that Elion's talent was overshadowing everyone, all the residents. Because of that, she needed to work much harder.

As for Elion, he needed to focus much more on his work.

Knowing more about the world around him would give him the opportunity to be far more prepared for the events in which he might be involved.

And he also needed to prepare himself in other ways.

"Learning to save lives and to take them, all in one."
