Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: My Class ??? (2)

"A level? Magic? And also... mana?"

All this new information shocked Claud after reading his guild card.

He clearly wasn't strong, for now.

According to the auxiliary information provided by the card, an average individual possessed at least 5 points in all physical stats.

As for luck, cursed energy, and magical power, they varied greatly from one person to another, but strongly influenced the class obtained.

Jin had a decent average in supernatural energy, but his luck was below average.

An almost ironic situation, since Claud remembered that his new wife was potentially responsible for his mysterious disappearance in the original timeline.

Not to mention that the former him didn't aspire to much in life...

except having a child with Kaori Itadori, whom Kenjaku now embodied in his mind.

A simp, in a way.

But Claud, having felt all of Jin's emotions, hesitated to label him as such.

He preferred the term "deeply in love."

The man simply wanted tangible proof of his love for Kaori Itadori,

a proof that would inevitably manifest in the form of a child.

Yuji Itadori.

"I'd better stop philosophizing about the old me... survival is the priority now,"

he muttered, as his fingers began scrolling through the available classes on the card.

Even though he was playing the role of a pseudo-sick person, Jin knew he couldn't stop himself from going to the doctor with his wife.

After all, Kenjaku knew him as a good husband.

If he didn't want to risk arousing the slightest suspicion, then Jin absolutely had to "observe" his child in his wife's womb.

So he had to hurry with the guild card.

[ Adventurer ]

Versatile class intended for those who have not chosen a specific specialization.

Adventurers can learn skills from any class or "species," provided they witness a demonstration of the desired skill's use.

However, due to modest stats and a lack of innate talent, learning these skills is more costly.

Adventurers receive no stat bonuses upon leveling up, although they progress more easily at the beginning.

[ Warrior ]

Frontline fighter wielding heavy weapons such as swords, shields, and spears.

It is the most common class among adventurers.

[ Scholar ]

Researcher specialized in the study of fauna or magical tools.

[ Cook ]

A chef capable of preparing any dish he knows.

The options before Jin's eyes were limited,

but he had expected it from the start.

Jin was an ordinary person.

The amount of CE (Cursed Energy) he possessed was barely above average.

His magical energy was no exception.

It was therefore impossible for him to become a Wizard or Sorcerer:

he was simply too weak in those two areas.

"I'll take the Adventurer class,"

he said without the slightest hesitation in his voice.

It was the only truly viable choice for him,

thanks to its versatile nature.

"Especially... since it allows copying skills from other 'species',"

he thought, as the idea of obtaining a power similar to Rika's made his heart beat faster.

No, not just a power similar to Rika. But also those of the sorcerers he admired in the manga.

'If I play my cards right, then acquiring the power of another powerful cursed spirit would be conceivable.' He told himself inwardly.

He just needed to have enough skill points, but also good persuasion skills when the time came.

"Thank you for your attention. I think my health has improved enough to accompany you to the doctor," he said in a falsely reassuring voice.

Kaori was slightly surprised by Jin's arrival after a few minutes of separation.

But she soon flashed a fake smile when she understood Jin's words.

"Hm... you really seem eager to see our son," she said, drawing closer.

Jin felt a little embarrassed by Kenjaku's gesture as she adjusted his poorly fitted clothes, but the former employee decided to steel himself without backing down.

"Isn't it natural? It's our child, after all," he replied while stroking Kaori's belly.

The woman's body shivered slightly at his touch, but she showed no intention of moving away from him.

Jin even noticed her breathing quicken, but assumed he was imagining things.

They then had a short casual conversation before he finally left the Itadori house.

...

"Haha, I've rarely seen such a healthy baby. The father must have some serious vitality," the doctor declared in an amused tone, while giving Kaori a little wink.

Jin mechanically nodded after hearing the woman's compliment.

Honestly, he didn't really know how to react in such a situation.

Knowing you were going to be a father was extremely different from seeing your child energetically moving in his wife's amniotic fluid.

"Hm... indeed, my husband was very enthusiastic during the 'conception' of the little one," Kaori replied in a suggestive tone, responding to the doctor's teasing.

"Oh, that's rare these days. Personally, my husband doesn't seem very enthusiastic about me anymore..."

The female doctor began chatting amicably with Kaori about their relationships, while Jin stood right next to them.

The two women were completely absorbed in their own world.

'Maybe I should have stayed home,' he thought, but he quickly dismissed the idea from his mind.

Anyway, with "ifs," Claud knew one could rewrite history. So he had to strive to live in the present moment.

"We're done. The baby is doing wonderfully," the doctor declared as she got up from the seat next to Kaori after speaking.

She headed to a notepad to fill out a form, then handed it to Kaori.

"Here, you'll need to avoid this kind of thing during the progression of your pregnancy. However, I'm not too worried given this baby's health," she said in a kind voice.

"Thank you... ma'am?" Kaori nodded as she received the note.

"Kuro... Kuro Inuzuka. I hope to see you again," she said to Kaori and Jin.

After a few pleasantries, the couple left Kuro's clinic to head home.

Once back, Jin immediately looked for an excuse to leave the premises.

He had a lot to do.

"When are you coming back?" Kaori asked from the kitchen.

"Just before dinner, but don't wait for me to eat," he declared while walking toward the door.

The moment he grabbed the door handle, Jin felt a cold hand grasp his shoulder.

He froze for a brief instant at Kaori's sudden initiative, but quickly regained his composure.

After all, Kenjaku had no reason to kill him now.

"Haven't you forgotten something?" she said, pressing herself against his back.

Jin was momentarily confused by his wife's remark, but his predecessor's memories quickly provided the answer.

'Damn it, Jin Itadori...' he sighed inwardly.

The young husband turned around, then planted a kiss on his wife's cheek.

"That's much better~ Come back soon," she said while stepping away, accompanying her words with a wink.

A gesture worthy of a mischievous girl, which Jin found surprisingly cute.

However, he quickly dismissed the idea of using the word "cute" to describe Kenjaku.

Even if it was his wife's body.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon," he replied before leaving the premises.
