Tokyo. The Mountain Pass.
The path between Shinjuku and Jujutsu High passed through a desolate mountain range.
A figure stood in the middle of the road, surrounded by raging flames.
Beige shawl. Volcano head. Single eye. Black teeth.
Jogo. The Special Grade Disaster Curse.
The pressure he emitted froze the four passengers in the car.
"Can't even withstand my aura?" Jogo sneered, walking toward them. "Humans really are imposters."
Inside the car, Nobara Kugisaki bit her lip until it bled. The pain snapped her out of the paralysis.
"This... this is the curse of big cities?!" she choked out.
"Get out!" Ijichi screamed, kicking the door open. "Run!"
They scrambled out of the car. Flames engulfed the vehicle behind them.
"A last-ditch effort," Jogo scoffed. He looked at them like ants.
Megumi Fushiguro scanned the area. Retreat is cut off. We're trapped.
"Yuji," Megumi whispered. "If I release that guy (Mahoraga)... he'll kill us first."
"We just have to hold out until Gojo-sensei notices," Yuji said, gripping his Dragon-Bone sword.
Nobara clutched her hammer. "Before I die... I'm taking a piece of this volcano with me!"
...
BOOM!
A beam of pink light shot from the burning car.
White Zetsu leaned out the window, firing the Crimson Lotus.
"Don't be afraid, Underlings! Big Brother is here!"
Smoke billowed.
Yuji teared up. "Zetsu-senpai!"
But then...
"A Cursed Spirit siding with humans? Foolish."
The smoke cleared. Jogo stood there, unharmed. His cloak wasn't even singed.
"The difference in strength is heaven and earth," Jogo sneered.
He waved his hand. Three thumb-sized fireflies appeared. Ember Insects.
"You three are trash. Die."
The insects shot toward Ijichi, Megumi, and Nobara.
I'm going to die, Ijichi thought, picturing Shoko's rare smile.
I never got to see Saori, Nobara thought.
I should have summoned Mahoraga sooner, Megumi thought.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Three explosions rocked the night.
The students flinched, waiting for death.
But the pain never came.
They opened their eyes.
An invisible barrier had blocked the explosions.
"I told you," White Zetsu's smug voice rang out. "My Number One Henchman can handle this trashy volcano!"
Standing in front of them, one hand raised, was Zenin Mirai.
...
Mirai glanced coldly at White Zetsu (who was crouching behind him) but didn't contradict him.
If I hadn't arrived, Megumi would have died. The plan would be ruined.
"Mirai-sensei!" Ijichi cried, nearly collapsing with relief.
"Mirai-sensei!" Megumi gasped.
"The Mama's Boy's Protector!" Nobara thought.
Mirai looked at Jogo.
The plot has shifted. Jogo wasn't supposed to be here. Kenjaku must be testing me.
"Oh?" Jogo twisted the cork in his ear. "Finally. Someone worth killing."
"Pink Gorilla! Country Girl! Hide behind my little brother!" Zetsu waved at them. "You'll get caught in the shockwaves!"
The students scurried behind Mirai.
"Can we win?" Nobara whispered to Megumi.
"I don't know," Megumi admitted. "I've never seen him fight."
Mirai turned around. He gave the students a gentle smile.
"Since all the first-years are here..."
"I'll give you a lesson in advance."
Zetsu popped up over Mirai's shoulder. "Pay attention, rookies! This is a Night Lesson on the pinnacle of Jujutsu!"
