I looked around the hallway then sat beside the door of our room. "Why are you sitting there, Maria?" Asked Tabitha. "Aren't you going to look around the ship?" Asked Jude. I looked at them then shook my head. "I'd rather stay here and see that he's okay than to have fun knowing he might be facing something that's breaking him and I can't even be there to be by his side." I answered as I hugged my knees.
Tabitha quickly went closer to me, sat beside me then hugged me. I never knew she'd be this kind of person. Jude and James then came closer and sat at the other side of the door. Jude helped James sit. "Are you sure you're all okay staying here?" I asked. Tabitha nodded. "We'll just gonna use your answer to answer your question," said James with a smile. I chuckled.
Not a little while later, we heard banging from inside the room. We quickly stood up and I opened the door. "No! NO!" Yelled Matthew as he kept on banging the window. "Matthew!" I called as I pulled him and hugged him. He tried to let go of me and he succeeded, making me fall on the floor. "Maria!" Tabitha called and she helped me get up. Matthew ran back to the window and banged it again.
Jude quickly ran towards Matthew and hugged him to prevent him from banging the window. "Let go of me! Let go of me!" Matthew yelled as he kept trying to let go of Jude's hold. "Are you okay, Maria?" James asked as he stood beside me and Tabitha. "This is nothing compared to what Matthew is going through," I answered James as I kept on looking at Matthew.
"You need to calm down first before I let you go," said Jude to Matthew, not letting him go. "I need to save her! She's going to drown!" Yelled Matthew, still trying to escape from Jude's arms. "Who?" Asked Tabitha. Matthew didn't answer, he burst out crying instead. Both Matthew and Jude slowly kneeled down on the floor while Jude is still hugging Matthew.
I quickly came closer to them and wiped Matthew's tears. "It's okay, Matthew, it's okay. We're here. We're here." I said to Matthew as I caressed his hair. Only Matthew's sobbings filled the room until he stopped from crying and slowly tried to let go from Jude's hug. Jude let him go. "Are you okay in telling us what happened, Matthew?" I asked as I kept on looking at him. Matthew let out a deep sigh then looked at me.
"My-my Mom fell from this kind of ship when I was little. We… We were on our way back to the town when it stormed. I was in our room when-when suddenly… I saw through the window that-that someone fell. Not knowing it was my mother, I did not bother telling my Dad." Said Matthew while he's looking down at the floor and sitting on his feet.
"When I told my Dad… He quickly hugged me… And he… He began to cry. Then-then he told me, it was Mom. It traumatized me." Continued Matthew. I held his hand as tears fell down my eyes. "We're sorry for your loss, Matthew," said Jude as he caressed Matthew's shoulder. "And because of my trauma… I-I caused someone's mother to fall in the sea as well." Said Matthew as tears fell down from his eyes again. "It's not your fault, Matthew," said James as he came closer to us. Matthew looked at James as tears kept falling from his eyes, "Tell that to Simon," said Matthew.
"That explains why Simon treats you the way he treats you," said Tabitha as she came closer. Matthew looked at her, "Even the newest member noticed, huh," said Matthew. "Even the blind can notice in the way he speaks to you, Matthew," said Tabitha, making Matthew chuckle. I smiled softly. "If only Simon treats you like that, does that mean Simon didn't tell Andrew about it?" Asked Tabitha, making all of us think. "Well… as a brother myself, I'd rather not tell my younger sibling about it." Answered Jude, making all of us look at him.
