Chapter 28 - Chapter 28. Himeko: So I'm just a tool person?

The moment she stepped out of the Challenge Space.

The memories in her mind were like a passing flash.

Besides Kiana's memories, Yunduo's own memories also came flooding back.

She gradually remembered herself.

She wasn't Kiana... In fact, Yunduo had sensed it long ago; every time she entered the Challenge Space, she would forget her own existence.

The Challenge Space itself likely possessed some kind of restriction.

Once inside, her own memories were sealed.

In their place were the current memories of the person manifested within the space.

Everyone who enters the Challenge Space can probably only retain their own instinctive reactions, or rather, their subconscious.

Calmness, courage, the choices made when facing sacrifice... this also explained why the current Kiana could not succeed in the challenge, as she lacked maturity and the necessary courage.

And Yunduo could succeed because she did not lack those necessary convictions; she had already experienced it once.

For anyone else, they might not have been able to make the corresponding choices at the critical moment.

For example, if Mei were to challenge the Skyfire Meteor, even if she had Kiana's memories and body, when faced with sending the Eos out of Earth, her own subconscious cowardice might cause her to hesitate, leading to task failure.

"Were my memories sealed by you?"

Yunduo asked silently.

"Yes," the cold mechanical voice in her head replied.

"I see. By the way, what is Sakura's Remembrance?"

Yunduo didn't understand what use the new reward item from the Challenge Space had.

A delicate pink cherry blossom petal appeared in her hand, and she could smell its faint fragrance.

"The challenger may give it to someone destined to receive it."

"That's it?" Yunduo raised an eyebrow.

There was no further answer.

Sighing, Yunduo rubbed her dizzy temples and teleported out of the space... Outside the Challenge Space.

Kiana's eyes were vacant.

In the minutes before Yunduo came out, she had watched her send the engine, which was about to explode with Honkai Energy, out of Earth.

Kiana was stunned; she had never imagined that this would be the way to break the deadlock!

Using a baseball bat to deal with all the mechs, leaping through the night sky, and breaking through the World Serpent's absolute defense!

Her skin, eroded by Honkai Energy, cracked inch by inch, and her entire body was almost melting.

But she didn't give up; instead, she turned this imperfect story into what she wanted it to be.

If the Honkai Energy was going to erupt and couldn't be forcibly cut off, she would transform into the Herrscher of the Void and send it directly out of Sky Dome City.

Disregarding her own safety, it took absolute courage and conviction to do all this!

A reverse meteor, igniting the sky!

Could her future self also achieve such a level?

How much growth would such maturity require?

Unlike the Herrscher of Flamescion, in this Skyfire Meteor challenge, Kiana saw another side of Yunduo.

Courage, sacrifice, fortitude, conviction... these were things the current Kiana temporarily lacked.

She would gradually come to possess all of this, but not right now.

Beside her, Himeko also watched intently, her gaze complex.

Why did it seem like she saw herself again?

That just now should have been a reflection after death, an image constructed by the girl using Honkai Energy.

Why is it that every time they encounter danger... she would pop out?

What was this, a tool person who forever exists in flashback memories? "Ahem~ Himeko, don't overthink it. It's about serving the children, which is also the responsibility of a teacher, even if—hahaha, even if you pop out every time."

Theresa had originally wanted to comfort Himeko, but when she thought about how the real Himeko wasn't dead and yet she appeared in the memories every time, she couldn't help but chuckle halfway through.

She was no longer afraid that Himeko would die.

Since she already knew how the future would unfold, those tragic events would definitely be avoided.

Once she left the space, she would go find Grandpa. She needed the power of Schicksal to uproot the World Serpent once and for all!

In particular, the Project Stigma that they had planted among the citizens of Sky Dome City needed to be stopped in time.

"Idiot Kiana, is her growth rate really that fast?" Bronya didn't understand, but she was greatly shocked. "Clearly, not much time has passed in the footage—perhaps not even two years this time—and Kiana can already possess such powerful strength?"

"Hmph, look at who I am! Kiana Kaslana! My family has been fighting the Honkai for generations. What's so strange about growing a bit faster?"

Hearing this, Kiana was like a husky wagging its Tail, her expression couldn't have been more proud.

After speaking, she gave the confused Bronya an ambiguous look: "Hey, did you see? My figure in a few years... how is it?"

"..."

If looks could kill, Bronya's gaze would have likely sliced Kiana into a thousand pieces by now.

Just then.

Mei walked over, lowering her head to apologize to Kiana: "Kiana, I'm sorry."

"Eh? Apologize? For what?"

Kiana was bewildered, a large question mark practically popping up over her head.

Mei hadn't done anything, so why was she apologizing?

"Because I wasn't there, I didn't give you any help. I don't know why, but if I'm still alive, what on earth am I doing?"

Mei pursed her pink lips, her expression troubled, even showing signs of frustration.

Seeing this, Kiana breathed a sigh of relief and explained, "Mei, don't blame yourself. Maybe you're helping me silently in a place I can't see, and you just happened not to appear in the footage."

"But, I—"

"Alright, Yunduo is out, look."

As soon as she finished speaking, a white light flashed, and Yunduo stretched, appearing before everyone with a lazy posture.

"Morning, everyone."

Seeing everyone staring blankly, Yunduo shrugged: "What are you all looking at me for?"

"Wow! You're finally out!"

Kiana rushed forward and gave Yunduo a big bear hug.

"Slow down, slow down, you're going to crash right through me."

The girl who had just achieved Deliverance felt a wave of warmth against her chest as Kiana embraced her.

What's the big deal? Why so excited?

"Sister Yunduo, that was very cool. We all saw that scene just now," Bronya praised in a low voice.

"That's right, Theresa really likes you—the way you threw that engine just now looked like you were shooting a hoop. Sigh~ I just don't know if my little niece can do the same," Theresa lamented.

"She will. After all, you all saw the distant future last time, and Kiana was still alive and well. That means she can do everything Yunduo did..."

Himeko glanced at the grinning Kiana, then dealt her a harsh blow: "But for now, you still lack many things and have a long way to go, you know? Don't always think of me. What will you do if I'm not there?"

"You won't be gone! Hmph~ I don't want Aunt Himeko to die," Kiana turned her head, her expression a bit tsundere.
