Chapter 87 - A Father's Murder Revenge Is Nothing Compared to This

In a basement room beneath the Shinomiya family headquarters.

Oko Shinomiya, the eldest son of the Shinomiya family, was kneeling on the floor.

In the main seat sat a girl with one leg crossed over the other, calmly painting her nails.

Standing slightly behind her was another girl. Her face resembled the first, but her presence was far more restrained-ordinary, capable, and sharp.

"Little Junko," the girl behind her said flatly, "you already know the opponent is the World's Best Chef, and you still sent Teruteru Hanamura to probe him?"

This woman-known in the west as the Ultimate Soldier-was Mukuro Ikusaba.

Junko Enoshima didn't even look up.

"Big sis~ if anyone's watched the shokugeki footage of that so-called World's Best Chef, even a pig would notice it immediately."

Her tone was light. Almost playful.

"That guy has only ever made instant noodles you can buy at a convenience store~"

As she spoke, Junko casually pulled a throwing knife out of her makeup box.

Then-

She flicked her wrist.

The knife flew straight toward Mukuro Ikusaba's eye.

"I see~"

Mukuro's cheeks flushed slightly.

Her expression didn't change.

With half-lidded eyes, she raised her hand and caught the knife cleanly in midair.

Their movements were smooth. Natural.

As if this were just another routine exchange.

Oko Shinomiya, kneeling to the side, watched the scene unfold.

He didn't dare speak.

He didn't dare move.

But his body was trembling uncontrollably.

Cold weapons were still fine.

That much was still fine.

But he had seen it before.

He had seen these two lunatics toss live grenades with the pins pulled at each other like children throwing toys.

As a greeting.

He had hired them.

With money.

From a foreign research facility.

Mukuro Ikusaba-the older sister-was a super soldier capable of killing a hundred people bare-handed.

Junko Enoshima-the younger sister-was a top-tier analyst who could break down a person's physical data, life history, and even mental state with a single glance.

They were originally his preparations.

His insurance.

His tools to seize control of the Shinomiya family.

But now-

The one in control was no longer him.

As for Oko himself...

He had gone from considering resistance...

To praying that these two wouldn't start throwing grenades again.

If they didn't, he considered that a win.

He was already in despair.

...

"I didn't expect there to be a shokugeki venue here."

Jaden looked at the opponent's declaration of a shokugeki, then at the venue that had been prepared almost immediately afterward.

He shook his head slightly.

Metsudo Katahara, who had apparently finished dealing with Kanoh Agito, took his seat as the referee. He arrived alongside the Metsudo Guard, laughing heartily.

"Well, it is an interesting event," Metsudo said. "A shokugeki between you-the World's Best Chef-and him."

"An Ultimate Cook from a rather famous research facility."

Jaden paused.

"Research facility?"

"Yes."

Metsudo Katahara looked toward Teruteru Hanamura, who had already begun preparing ingredients. There was a faint depth to his gaze.

"A super research facility established by the Togami family. They gathered top scientists from all over the world."

"I don't know the details," he continued, "but it's said the facility exists to create a 'Human God.'"

"Whether they succeeded or not is unclear."

"But everyone who's come out of that place is a super talent. Top-tier in their respective fields."

"This includes fighters."

Jaden paused briefly.

Metsudo continued.

"The fighter from Toyo Electric-Julius Reinhold."

"He also came from that facility."

"The man with the world's strongest muscles."

"I see."

Jaden nodded without much reaction.

Metsudo glanced at him.

"So? If you translate Julius's muscles into the culinary world, do you feel pressure?"

"And your opponent has been preparing this whole time. Are you really planning to just stand here talking with me until the match begins?"

Jaden smiled.

"Pressure?"

"Are you joking?"

"I've never felt pressure in a shokugeki."

"As for preparation..."

He lifted the bag in his hand slightly.

"This is enough."

After saying that, Jaden turned around and went to boil water.

Seeing his complete lack of concern for Teruteru Hanamura, Metsudo Katahara gained a clearer understanding of the man known as the World's Best Chef.

As for Teruteru Hanamura-

Compared to Jaden's composure, his own preparation was almost frantic.

He remembered Junko Enoshima's words clearly.

-If you serve after him, you lose.

So he pushed for speed.

Absolute speed.

If the opponent was making instant noodles, then he would have to boil water.

And while the opponent was boiling water-

His dish would already be finished.

That was the plan.

And reality unfolded exactly as he imagined.

Jaden took out instant noodles and began boiling water.

At the same time, Teruteru Hanamura spun two kitchen knives in his hands. His knife skills were dazzling. Ingredients were cut cleanly, seasonings were added rapidly, and within moments, a salad took shape.

He carried it straight toward Metsudo Katahara.

"Hanamura's Special Salad~ please enjoy."

It looked simple.

But every seasoning had been carefully prepared beforehand.

For speed, this was his fastest possible dish.

For this shokugeki, he chose to trust Junko Enoshima.

Jaden glanced at the dish.

That was all.

Teruteru Hanamura was indeed worthy of the title Ultimate Cook. For something made so quickly, it was solid. Passion was evident.

And there was even a buff attached.

[Combination: A unique combination of ingredients and seasonings that maximizes the inherent effects of the ingredients.]

Jaden looked once.

Then he applied a Curse.

This time, something was different.

Previously, when he saw the Combination skill, the description had been straightforward.

But after applying the Curse, two parentheses appeared at the end of the description.

-(Not Lethal) (Forced Plating Success)

Hmm.

Jaden raised an eyebrow and glanced at Metsudo Katahara in the judge's seat.

He didn't quite understand what Forced Plating Success meant.

But if it was Not Lethal-

Hiss.

He hoped the person would be fine.

Because Metsudo Katahara was judging, the Metsudo Guard stepped forward to test the dish for poison.

They had to ensure his safety.

One member of the guard inserted iron chopsticks into the salad.

Hiss-

The portion of the chopsticks that entered the dish melted.

The remaining half began to steam violently.

The guard member immediately threw the chopsticks aside.

The rest of the chopsticks melted completely on the floor.

All eyes turned toward Teruteru Hanamura.

This wasn't just poisoning anymore.

This was-

How much poison did you put in there?

This was physical damage.

At this moment, one thought surfaced clearly in everyone's mind.

-A father's murder revenge is nothing compared to this!
