Every light in the library went out at the exact same moment.
It didn't feel like a normal power outage.
Because the silence that followed
was not normal.
quiet conversations of students,faint sounds of computers everything seemed to stop at once.At first, Anie thought it was just a temporary power cut.
But even after two seconds,no one said anything.She slowly lifted her head.
Everyone in the room
was still in the exact same position.
a girl frozen in the middle of turning a page.
A boy looking down at his phone but,
they weren't moving,
Anie's heart began to beat faster.
"Mira?"called softly.
Mira was sitting at the table in front of her.But she didn't respond Anie held her breath.silence felt like an empty void she stood up.
"What… is this?"
looked around,It felt as if
time was still moving only for her.Everyone else looked trapped inside a photograph.
when the voice appeared,soft from inside her head.
"You finally hear it."
Anie froze, "Who's there?"
no answer came immediately then the voice returned,
"You already asked."
a sudden headache struck her,Sharp.
an invisible pressure filled her mind.
she grabbed the table.
"What is happening…?"
voice spoke again,this time, clearer.
"You are awakening."
same time,on the roof of the college.
Elijah stood perfectly still he wasn't looking at the city.His attention was focused on one place.library,closed his eyes.For a moment then he spoke quietly.
"It's starting."
Someone was standing behind him,
"Won't you help her?"
"Not yet."...
"But she's your friend." this time Elijah answered.
"That's exactly why I'm waiting."
Inside the library
Anie slowly started walking,she stopped in front of Mira.
"Mira?"
She waved her hand no reaction.Fear crept into her chest wasn't normal.
voice returned,,,
"You ask questions."
she,inhaled slowly "Yes."
"Who are you?"
brief silence followed, answer came..
"I am the one who asks."
in another part of the city.
Inside the Hunters' command center.
One of the monitors suddenly lit up.
"Signal anomaly detected."
officer looked up...,"Location?"
technician stared at the screen,
"College sector."
Silence filled the room,another officer said quietly "It's her."
But the senior officer shook his head.
"Not only her."
continued staring at the screen,
"This… is something else."
Inside the library something changed.
air in front of Anie rippled slightly,
she froze her eyes narrowed air looked distorted that was impossible.
but she could see it clearly the voice spoke again.
"You see."
"See what?"..
"Questions."!!!!
air in front of her slowly shifted shape appeared.Something human but unclear,Just a shadow her heart pounded.
"Is this… a dream?" shadow moved its head slightly.
"No." stepped back slightly,
"Who are you?"
"I am the one who asks."
"The Questioner."
On the college rooftop Elijah opened his eyes.He felt it clearly now a power.
something new,he slowly exhaled
"Anie…"looked down.
In the distance hunters' vehicles were approaching the campus.A faint smile crossed his face.
"They've already arrived."
Inside the library
Anie stared at the shadow.
"What are you asking?"shadow answered calmly.
"What are you ready to see?"
She shook her head,
"I don't understand."
shadow moved closer the air around her bent slightly.
"Then ask."
outside the college gates,Hunters' vehicles stopped.An officer spoke into the radio.
"Target building confirmed."
"Move in."
they began walking toward the building.
Inside the library
Anie suddenly realized something,
everyone was frozen but she alone
was moving here.
"Did… I do this?"
"You asked." shadow answered.
her heart pounded harder,
"What did I ask?"
brief silence passed then,
"The truth."
On the rooftop
Elijah watched the library,he spoke quietly
"You already asked the first question."
he turned away.
Because he knew what was about to happen next couldn't be stopped.
