The headquarters of the division headed by Felipe was underground, which was the reason for there being no windows, and which also prevented the sensation of day and night. Since the environment couldn't stop, and many employees needed to sleep in the facilities, on every level there were rooms like the one André was staying in.
And it was in one of those that Lídia was resting. After the hours of sleep she judged to be sufficient, the girl left while cleaning her glasses on a small cloth. She walked toward the section director's office; upon entering, she found Felipe reading a book with an ancient appearance.
"You really like antiques, don't you?" asked the secretary.
"It is part of my ability, my power..." Felipe explained. "The older the book, the more my knowledge increases."
"Yes, you already explained that, and that is why you call your power 'Guardian of Wisdom,'" Lídia said in a theatrical tone.
"It wasn't I who chose the name..." Felipe lowered his head and put his hand on his forehead. "The person who helped me with this power said it was the name of my divine ability."
"Ah, that's right; another time I heard Ms. Elizabeth say that your powers were granted by the gods of the other world themselves," whispered Lídia.
"But one thing is strange regarding that..." Felipe interrupted. "According to information from that place, there are exactly 32 gods, but there are no demons or anything else of the sort. That is why, until today, the origin of André's power is a mystery, a secret only he knows."
"You had never said that..." Lídia was amazed. "I knew there were 32 gods and 33 heroes, but I thought one of the gods might have given power to two of you..."
"Impossible!" Felipe exclaimed. "The 32 immortals of that world possess unique and limited powers regarding their usage form; furthermore, nowhere is that type of power described."
"The ability to mold a black mist into any weapon he wants or use it to protect his own body..." said Lídia. "It is certainly an enviable power..."
"Yes, and also powerful enough to cause countless disasters and deaths," Felipe completed. "That is why we call it the reaper's power, a demon that collects souls... It might seem cool for a protagonist of Isekai genre novels and manga, but no one would like to be called that."
The girl said nothing more; the expression of anguish the department chief had at that moment was enlightening. For someone who inherited the power of the god of wisdom, pondering another hero's power should be sufficient to comprehend it, but even so, Felipe hadn't managed to reach the origin of the 33rd hero, and the only clue he had found was that it served to collect souls.
All observations regarding André's power wouldn't have been understood by Lídia were it not for her 4 years of dedication alongside the global intelligence chief; she was already getting used to his way of thinking and doing things.
But another detail was missing regarding André's return: the fact that upon returning, the first 32 were picked up by their respective families—even Felipe, who reunited with his parents and brother, and even dedicated to work, always went to have lunch with them on some weekends. But no one had sought information about André.
Lídia remembered that once Felipe even instructed her to do a survey of everyone named "André Lima" born in the same year as him, and only three results were found: one was in college, another served in the army, and the last was in college, leading to no conclusion about André's origin.
So, suspicions surrounding the 33rd hero only increased.
While thinking about these things, she remembered the visit of the other heroes who had been away for months; it would be a good idea to invite their families to welcome them. Besides, it would be a way to prevent any form of internal conflict, or attempted homicides...
"Should I notify the families of the heroes who are coming to the meeting?" Lídia asked instinctively.
"What?" Felipe seemed to be on another planet.
"The families of the other heroes..."
"Ah, yes! Call them; you did very well to remember that." Felipe gave a positive signal.
"And what about André's family?" Lídia was hesitant, but asked.
"If we discover something, we can call them too, but I find it unlikely," Felipe replied, looking the other way.
Lídia immediately suspected something was wrong; he always made that expression when he lied. He could be the smartest guy in two worlds, but he had never learned to lie.
But this time she would let it pass; after all, the mysteries regarding the newly arrived hero were many, and she wasn't capable of comprehending them so well. After all, not even Felipe seemed to understand well how things worked when the subject was André.
"You still haven't discovered anything about his origin?" asked the girl, while sitting in her office chair and turning on a computer.
"No, it is very intriguing..." Felipe replied, closing the book and looking at Lídia. "When we introduced ourselves for the first time, we discovered we were all exactly the same age, 12 years old..."
That was new information for Lídia; she seemed interested, wanting to somehow help solve the mystery, even knowing that her capacity was far below that of a hero with powers that made him very intelligent.
"But there isn't another person with the same name born in the same year," Felipe continued. "Besides, he said he didn't remember his past, and even when we visited the Temple of Truth I could confirm it. Inside there, no one can tell lies; I asked his name, age, and what he remembered from before being transported. The answers were exactly the ones I already knew."
"And you did that just to know who he was?" inquired the secretary with braids, who looked at Felipe with much interest in the story.
"Leonardo, who was our leader at the time... he thought André could be some kind of spy, since he didn't fit into our context in any way. But in the end, he didn't lie and didn't give any other information whatsoever. So, even if I try to ponder, I don't get much. My power doesn't make me omniscient; it only allows me to comprehend new situations and possibilities based on the information I already possess."
This last part was already known to Lídia, but all the other information was news, and since she didn't possess the "Guardian of Wisdom," it was better not to meddle in others' affairs.
