"Sita, do you know?"
After killing Susanoo-no-Mikoto, Hiro obtained an Authority named God of the Ocean.
As the name implied, it allowed him to manipulate water sources, including the ocean itself.
As long as his cursed energy or magic power was sufficient, he could even command all five oceans, triggering a world-ending flood like the one depicted in the movie 2012.
A Transfer Cursed Energy spell came bundled with it. That went without saying.
However, the black-robed monk who had been standing beside the glass-eyed princess brought him nothing at all.
No Authority.
No Transfer Cursed Energy spell.
No system rewards.
Even Mariya Hikari had at least displayed a small "2" and yielded five resurrection tokens.
By contrast, the "5" above Susanoo-no-Mikoto's head had given him something that looked extremely powerful, yet was practically useless to him.
A Random Gacha Machine.
It required one hundred years of charging time and could not be influenced by any external forces during that period.
Once charged, it would randomly draw a single item from all Grace types, Spirit Grades, and other item categories.
Any level.
Unlimited.
That meant that with sufficient luck, it could produce something on the level of the Final Trial of Humanity, the Star Spirit of the First Star, the Star Spirit of Day and Night, the Authority of the Sun, the Simulated Creation Diagram-
-or even Decaying Wind, a single-digit item.
Of course, that was assuming good luck.
Bad luck was another matter entirely.
Yet the black-robed monk yielded nothing at all.
The system even judged him as a useless existence, unworthy of even a Tier-1 Fate Value.
"Replying to the Master," the glass-eyed princess said softly, bowing slightly as Hiro approached her, "this is because that monk is different from Susanoo-no-Mikoto."
"He is not a Heretic God living in seclusion, but a monk who attained enlightenment through human practice. Therefore, he cannot provide Authority rewards."
Although she knew Hiro was still human, having witnessed what he had just done, she no longer dared to treat him as such.
Without realizing it, she had already positioned herself as a subordinate.
"Hm."
After hearing Sita's explanation, Hiro looked at the monk's emaciated body, now torn into fragments, and fell silent for a moment.
So I was mistaken.
Among the three hermits in the Otherworld, only Susanoo was a Heretic God.
Is it still possible to fix that guy's body?
He already knew the identity of the glass-eyed princess before him.
A Divine Ancestor.
A fallen Earth Mother Goddess.
Just like the Divine Ancestor Ansheela, who had transformed from a human into a snake, she could not be counted as a Heretic God.
"Although I was once an Earth Mother Goddess, my Divine Right was stripped away long ago," Sita said, lowering her head. "I was reduced to my current Divine Ancestor form."
"The witches' spells cannot be applied to me. Please spare my life, Master."
Even when Hiro exposed his back to her without any defense, Sita showed no intention of attacking.
She even discarded the dignity of a Divine Ancestor, kneeling and pressing herself to the ground in a full prostration.
"Ding! Tier-3 Luck extraction complete. Congratulations to the Host for obtaining the reward: Telepathy."
The lead-gray Fate Value above Sita's head vanished at that moment.
Hiro shifted his gaze back from the distant monk and saw Sita's desperate attempt to survive.
He frowned slightly.
"Even as a Divine Ancestor, your essence is still divine. You'll return to mythology after death."
"Why demean yourself like this?"
"Where is your dignity as an Earth Mother Goddess?"
"Dignity..."
Sita did not lift her head. Her expression remained hidden.
Only her voice reached Hiro and Yuri.
"I once had it. But after being torn to pieces by a certain hero, I stopped caring."
"If the Master does not object to my mythological identity and wishes to take this body, I will not object either."
RÄma, in mythology, really was an unreliable man.
Hiro looked down at the small stretch of pale neck exposed by her posture and shook his head.
He summoned the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi and opened a door with a single slash.
"Amaterasu. Let's go back."
To his surprise, the obedient Amaterasu, who had been holding his hand, pulled away.
Meeting his questioning gaze, her expression remained unchanged.
"I have something to say to her. You go back first."
A private conversation between goddesses?
Hiro didn't refuse.
"Alright. Don't take too long."
"Yes."
After receiving her response, Hiro stepped into the passage, vanishing from the sight of the two women.
Once he was gone, Sita brushed away nonexistent dust and slowly stood up.
She looked at the blonde girl before her.
"Amaterasu-sama. Do you require something from me?"
"Yes."
The blonde, blue-eyed goddess nodded.
She stared at Sita in silence for a long moment before asking calmly,
"Why do you cling to the human world?"
"Cling to the human world?"
Sita shook her head, a self-mocking smile appearing on her face under Amaterasu's indifferent gaze.
"No. There's nothing here worth clinging to."
"I simply don't want to return to mythology and see that man again."
"It's lonely here, but at least there are no figures I find repulsive."
"What do you seek?"
"What do I seek?"
Sita frowned slightly.
"I have no wish. I only want to remain in the Otherworld until mythology itself is destroyed."
"What do you seek?"
Amaterasu repeated the question.
Her emerald eyes did not waver.
Sita's brow tightened.
What was Amaterasu trying to ask?
Does something extravagant like rewriting mythology and becoming an eternal virgin goddess even count?
She hesitated, meeting Amaterasu's unwavering gaze, and did not answer.
"What do you seek?"
When Amaterasu asked for the third time, Sita finally spoke, slowly and uncertainly.
"If I must name a wish... then I want mythology to be revised."
"And for myself... to become an eternal virgin goddess."
"I understand."
Amid Sita's confusion, the blonde goddess nodded once and stepped into the deep passage.
"Amaterasu-sama... what did that mean?"
Staring at the passage that vanished after Amaterasu entered, Sita's expression grew strange.
It couldn't have been the Master's command.
Then why would the ruler of Takamagahara concern herself with a fallen Earth Mother Goddess like me?
What was the point of that question?
