Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Insanity: The Bomber

It wasn't funny anymore.....?

Damn it wasn't even funny in the first place! Spider-Man stared at his fist as he froze mid punch, hearing Anna scream his name from the comms.

"Peter! That's enough!" Anna screamed louder than ever. Seeing that he finally paused, the purse snatcher quickly bolted out of the dark alley, running for dear life.

Anna shook her head and ran her fingers through her hair. ' This is worse than I thought.' She thought to herself.

Spider-Man finally snapped out of his daze and swung away from the scene. He landed on a rooftop and frowned deeply, taking off his mask.

"Anna, what's going on with me?"

She was silent for a while, then she finally answered.

"I don't know."

She turned to face him as he groaned in anger, punching the wall in the WEB.

"Peter..."

"Anna, this is becoming worse everyday! You said I'll only lose control when I go all out right? So does that mean I'm going all out on a mere purse snatcher?" Peter asked, the frustration clear in his voice.

"I.....I am honestly confused too."

Peter looked at her, and she gasped when she saw tears run down his cheeks.

"What if I kill someone? What if I kill you?"

Anna's breath got caught in the back of her throat as she froze.

"You wouldn't hurt me... right?" She slowly asked.

He didn't respond, instead he turned away, his back facing her.

"Peter, you wouldn't hurt me, right?"

"I.....I don't know."

Alexander walked up to his father and silently watched him. He was adjusting something in a machine and pulling some little levers. He nodded in satisfaction and turned to Alexander with a little smile.

"Alexander, do you want to be a hero?"

Carla walked hand in hand with Peter in the park. She was surprised when he actually asked her to meet him there. And he was surprisingly calm and sweet, like the Peter she fell in love with. Not the scary thing he was turning into.

"I've been thinking." Carla said, breaking the silence. Peter looked at her with a smile, raising his eyebrow.

"Well concerning your problem, you know, losing your mind and all that. Why don't you try taking some meditation classes?"

Peter stopped walking, his eyes widening.

He was a fool! Why didn't he think of that!

"That's a great suggestion Carla. I think I'll try it out."

"Please do."

They continued walking in silence, enjoying their time together. Peter couldn't deny the fact that he missed all of this, just living his life like a regular teenager and not having to worry about protecting the city —for now.

——spider sense——

And he just had to jinx things.

A loud explosion was heard and people screamed, running away.

"Where is Spider-Man!?" A man asked with a large grin. He was riding a glider, a glider that seemed to shoot some exploding balls.

Peter frowned as he slowly recognized the dude. It was the same guy who tried to blow up the church!

He pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned in frustration.

"Not this clown again. Well this better be quick." He muttered under his breath, but Carla couldn't hear him because of the commotion. A little girl fell, but her mother didn't seem to notice. She cried for help, but she was ignored by the fleeing civilians.

"Carla, get out of here!" He yelled, letting go of her hand.

"What the hell? I'm not leaving without you!"

"We don't have time for this! I have to help them!" He said, pointing at the people who stumbled and fell.

"You aren't a hero Peter!"

He slowly pushed her away. "That's where you get it wrong. I am a hero." He said, running towards the little girl first.

A big explosion followed, and the smoke obstructed her vision. When the smoke cleared she saw Spider-Man holding some part of a building, giving the people a chance to run.

Peter's words echoed in her head.

"I am a hero."

"What do you want Mohammed?" Spider-Man asked, landing on a street light.

"Mohamm— it's Bomber you idiot!"

Three exploding balls were fired at him, but he webbed them and tossed them back at the Bomber.

Successfully distracting him, Spider-Man swung down, trying to save the people who were too slow. He picked up a woman who was limping and shot a web to the sky, but a heavy object slammed itself on him, and he could feel himself losing consciousness. He fell on the ground with the woman, and her screams of pain brought him back to reality.

She wasn't screaming because she was in pain, she was screaming because she imagined the pain he was going through. He frowned slightly, as he looked at his leg. It was twisted, and he understood why the woman was screaming.

"Run!" He screamed at her. Gritting his teeth, he snapped his leg back into position.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!" He screamed in pain, he voice chasing the already fleeing birds.

Carla heard the scream and turned to face him. She saw Spider-Man slowly standing up, and a tear ran down her cheek.

He ignored the pain and shot a string of web towards the Bomber, swinging towards him. The unsuspecting villain got a heavy punch on his face, and he flew like a ragdoll, crashing into a building. His suit protected him, so he stood up without much struggle.

Meanwhile Peter was putting on his usual costume, it didn't even have the comms! So there was no extra layer of protection, just spandex, rubber and his skin.

"I need to carry some of Anna's special costume from now on." He whispered, swinging towards the building where the Bomber crashed.

Exploding balls welcomed him, but he dodged and redirected them with his spider sense. He landed another punch on the Bomber, causing the villain to frown.

How was this kid evading his attacks!?

"Should I use it now?" He muttered, but quickly shook his head. "It's still too early."

Spider-Man was about to attack when a bomb appeared right in front of him. His spider sense for some reason didn't warn him. Next thing he saw was white.

"You are not good enough."

He shook his head, slowly standing. His suit was terribly damaged, and his mask looked like it went to hell and back.

Suddenly, Bomber appeared right in front of him.

"Found you!" He grabbed Spider-Man by the throat and flew up with his glider.

"I knew it, you're weak!" He taunted the hero with an evil grin on his face.

"Are you even a hero?" Another voice asked him. "You can't do anything right!"

Bomber punched him with all of his might, sending the hero the hero crashing down.

' Why am I weak? I have fought tougher villains, why can't I seem to beat this guy quickly? This should've ended the moment he arrived.' Spider-Man thought, as he threw a backflip, dodging an exploding ball.

'Is it because I'm weak?'

"No, it's because you're holding back." The voice replied.

Peter weaved and dodged another exploding ball.

The voice was right, he was holding back. He was holding back more than ever. Not because he looked down on Bomber, but because he was afraid of killing him.

So all he did was dodge, throw some weak punches, and dodge again. Bomber had no clue that the hero was holding back, so he was starting to get too confident. He fired more exploding balls, and also fired some taunts at Spider-Man.

"Why are you running away? You scared?" He yelled mockingly, grabbing Peter's leg and throwing him towards a wall with all his might.

"Yikes that kid weighs a ton!" He muttered to himself, pushing forward with his glider.

'If I take away the glider, then I can stop this easily. I don't have to hurt anybody.' Peter thought, pushing himself up. His suit looked more like a rag now, and he was bleeding from various places.

'I'll just have to use a little more force. Just a little!'

He immediately shot towards the Bomber, but to the villain it looked like he disappeared.

"What the hell —"

A sharp punch interrupted him, and next thing he knew he was flying— but not with his glider this time.

BOOM!

He crashed like a ragdoll, destroying the ground around him. Peter looked at the glider and frowned. If he destroyed it with brute force it might explode and destroy the whole city.

He thought quickly, and swung towards the river that wasn't too far away. He tossed the glider into the river and swung towards the WEB. He didn't have time to answer Anna's questions as he changed his suit and swung crazily towards the Bomber.

"Peter! What's going on? Who are you fighting?" Anna's voice was heard in his ear.

"It's just some suicide bomber. He tried to blow up the church once. Now he's attacking the city with this glider of his. It shoots bombs like they're water balloons."

"Oh I see. Well where's the glider then?"

"I tossed it in the river."

"Okay, I guess we have nothing to worry about then— wait you did what!?"

"I tossed it in the river." Peter replied, reaching the now destroyed park.

"Why did you do that!?"

"Because that was the best and only option I had! What if it had some kind of timer or something?"

"Well I'm pretty sure it didn't —"

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

A loud explosion occured in the river, and the water rose up and fell on the people who were near the bridge.

"I guess I was wrong." Anna muttered.

Peter frowned when he saw the Bomber standing up, looking ready to fight.

"You don't have your glider anymore. Give up."

"Who told you that my glider was the source of my strength?"

"Huh?"

"It was actually just a limitation." Bomber said with a grin, taking off his gloves.

Peter's spider sense buzzed crazily.
