The lead camera operator lifted a hand, counted down silently with his fingers, and then nodded.
"Hello, everyone," Adaeze began, turning naturally toward the lens with the practiced warmth of a woman who had done this a thousand times before, "we are in the home of Mrs. Amara Pedro Vale, the CEO of Ara Clothing." She paused there, turning back toward Amara with a knowing sort of smile playing at the corner of her mouth.
"I always get a little confused with your name, if I'm honest. Years ago, every household in this country knew you under a very different one."
It was, Amara knew, a deliberate opening of a gentle, well-placed needle designed to see whether she would flinch, deflect, or perhaps offer up some polished, media-trained non-answer the way so many public figures did when confronted with the messier chapters of their own history.
