Amara and Julian looked, by any measure, extraordinary, Amara in a deep emerald gown that caught the light with every movement, her hair swept back to leave her face, composed and radiant, entirely visible to the room, Julian in a perfectly tailored black suit, his hand resting lightly at the small of her back the way it always did, a silent, constant anchor.
More than one photographer would later remark, scrolling back through the night's footage, that the two of them looked less like a celebrated businesswoman and her husband and more like two people who had simply forgotten, for a moment, that anyone else was in the room.
